[Debconf-discuss] Starting a new Welcome Team: BoF & work session, 17:00, Madrid room

2015-08-21 Thread Asheesh Laroia
The Debian Welcome Team is a new (*) team that you should join.

We send emails to new contributors to greet them in Debian. We identify
these people automatically via contributors.debian.org. That way, we can
help them get oriented in Debian upon their first contribution.

WE NEED YOUR PRESENCE to tell us if our ideas are good, and for you to join
the team! So --

If you find this interesting, come to MADRID at 17:00 and we'll show you
the current plans.

Cheers, Asheesh.

*. I, and others, have tried to create something like this before. This
time we are learning from past mistakes!

P.S. This is carefully scheduled to be immediately after the 4pm BoF on
alioth git, so it doesn't conflict.

[Debconf-discuss] Tip box for the youth hostel staff at the Debconf front desk

2015-08-21 Thread Matthias Klose
I really like the attitude and kindness of the staff at our venue. Comparing
this with other youth hostel visits, this feels like heaven. There is now a tip
box at the Debconf front desk to collect tips for the staff, kitchen staff
included. So please join, and say thank you for some wonderful days at the
youth hostel.

Hi,

if you have not received a conference bag, you can pickup yours on a

Also, water bottles (3 EUR) and other swag (stickers, postcards,
lanyards, umbrellas) are also available from Front Desk while supplies
last.

[Debconf-discuss] DebConf Bursaries Team Bof - Saturday 2pm in room Madrid

2015-08-21 Thread Gaudenz Steinlin

Hi

There will be a DebConf Bursaries Bof tomorrow at 2pm in room Madrid.
The bursaries team is the team which decides about the DebConf food,
accomodation and travel sponsorship requests.

The goal of the Bof is to discuss what worked well this year with the
new process we tried and to suggest improvements for next year.

Ideally the Bursaries team members present at DebConf should attend this
Bof to have as much feedback as possible.

See you tomorrow

For those of us who are running low on Euros, is is possible to pay for
any of this via a credit card? Failing that, can anyone recommend a
local ATM (cash point) that doesn't charge outrageous fees?

There is an ATM from "Sparkasse" left to the zoo's entrance around 4
mins by foot from here. You can reach it by turning right and then
walking a few meters down the street until you reach the zoo's entrance.

If I remember it correctly, it charges around 2 Euros for Credit Card
withdrawals.
Anyways, it should show you how much it is going to charge before the
actual withdrawal.

One solution might be to buy a drinks voucher with credit card and
sell it to someone else (or even just return it to the venue, they
will refund it).

[Debconf-discuss] storm.debian.net: email me for an invite, a Titanpad alternative (or Google Docs alternative) for Debian work

Hi Debian people at the conference,

I set up "storm.debian.net" which is an instance of Sandstorm (a free
software project I work on) that Debian people can use for creating
collaborative documents, like Etherpad, EtherCalc, and ShareLaTeX (!?!!).

https://storm.debian.net/

To create new documents, you have to email me for an invite, or ping me
(paulproteus on OFTC) for an invite. So please reply to me (off-list) and I
will add you!

[Debconf-discuss] Review the conference dinner restaurant

Dear attendees,

Resonance from last night matches the enthusiasm of the staff at the

They're a family-run business and would love to receive some

[Debconf-discuss] sso.debian.org new prototype is up

2015-08-21 Thread Enrico Zini
Hello,

we have deployed, experimentally, the new SSO implemenation.

To try it out:

 1. go to https://sso.debian.org
 2. log in
 3. go to https://sso.debian.org/spkac/
 4. click on "Enroll your browser" and you will get a client certificate
installed in your browser

To try visiting a protected site:

 go to https://lissabon-prototype-brlink-2.debian.net/protected/show
 over IPv6 (network "debconf15" and "debconf15-24")

To have people log into your site with this sso:

 - https://sso.debian.org/spkac/ca.pem is the certificate of the key
that signs the client certificates, that you only need to download
   once
 - https://sso.debian.org/spkac/ca.crl is the certificate revocation
list, that needs to be regularly redownloaded with some cron job
 - I'm attaching some apache configuration (by noshadow) to check client
certificates of site visitors (in this example optional i.e. not
rejecting without certificate, but the cgi sees it in the environment
   variables)

I'll leave the conference on saturday morning, so I cannot be around to
have fun experimenting with more sites.

For help, join #debconf-lissabon and at least noshadow should be able to
support you.

Enrico

More invites there now. Ping Clint (or me) if the pad goes dry.

[Debconf-discuss] forgot walking stick, could someone bring to froscon?

2015-08-21 Thread Judit Foglszinger
I found a fairly good tree branch usable as walking stick at the brevery hike,
but forgot it in my room (A001, corner next to the trash can)
Is someone driving to froscon and could bring it along?

[Debconf-discuss] Packaging tutorial -- newcomers welcome! -- 11am-2pm, Sat, Madrid

2015-08-21 Thread Asheesh Laroia
The plan for people following the tutorial:

* Bring a laptop. (If you need one, reply off-list to me.)

* You'll work through the "packaging-tutorial" PDF by yourself, and when
you get stuck, you'll ask questions.

* Schedule: 11-2pm, with a break for lunch. Show up at 11am SHARP for the
intro!

Also if you want to help (by answering questions) I'd love to have more
mentors there.

Cheers,

Asheesh.

P.S. This event due to demand from at least one Debconf attendee. If more
than one person attends, that's even better!

I'm driving to FrOSCon tomorrow, but neither Richi nor me found a tree
branch in A001. :-(
