[Debconf-discuss] Debian Jackets

2012-06-26 Thread Felix Delattre
We are happy to announce this year's official DebConf fashion selection:
http://layer-acht.org/fotos/660_Nicaragua_2012/20120625_220346_Sm.jpg.257.html
:))

You can obtain your Debian embroided raincoat (remember we are in the
rainy season) in Managua. In order to do so, please put your name on the
wiki page http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf12/DebianJackets until
July 1st and you'll be able to pick it up from July 5th on. You can also
write me in private in case you request a jacket but don't want to put
it on a public list in the wiki.

The jackets will be US$30 plain (only with the Debian logo) and US$ 33
with a customized embroidery to your liking.

Cheers,
Felix

Thanks, they look good.

Do you have any information on the sizes? (Maybe some page on the web
already has information for the type of jacket you are using?)

Unfortunately there is no website. The sizes available are from S to XXL
and they said they have a 15-16 (which is smaller than S).

My question was about what these names actually mean (e.g. chest
measurement): there is no international standard for what is "S" / "M" /
"L" etc., and there are significant variations between countries as well
as between producers.

I think they are a little bit smaller than european sizes. I normally choose L
or (rarely) XL in Europe, here I tried the one sample we have, which is L, and
choose XL.

[Debconf-discuss] Traveling after debconf

2012-06-26 Thread Henning Sprang
Hi,

Are there any people planning to travel through Nica after DebConf?

I will, and have planned plenty of time(4-8 weeks) to do so,
mainly heading to pacific beaches to find quality waves to have fun
improving my surfing skills.
First, I'll head to a small pueblo called "El Ostional" south from San
Juan del Sur to bring some gifts to people living their from a friend
in Germany. He said it's a fantastic place, though not perfect for
surfing.

If anybody wants to join, has plans for surfing or otherwise travel to
beaches we might exchange Ideas and go together...

Cheers,
Henning

This would be bigger than european sizes.
Can't they provide exact numbers?

If you-re going to Ostional, you can ask for Salvador Sánchez, who has some
cabins in front of the beach, or you can even camp there.

In Ostional you can make snorkeling and fish some octopus, but beware
the stingrays
and jellyfish... there are a lot over there.

You can always surf in the nearby beaches.

I'll reccomend too Playa Gigante: http://www.playagigante.com/ wich one of
the best beaches in the pacific Nicaragua.

No really, if you are XL europe size, maybe you are XXL USA size. I'm not
sure.

Usually size N European size is close to size N-1 USA size. So if
Holger says the jackets are small, I suspect they are not really normal
USA sizes.

Usually size N European size is close to size N+1 Latin American ( and
N+1.5 USA) size. This goes along with Holgers impression. So I'd suspect
them to be just Latin American sizes. Just tend to buy one a bit larger
you usually would do.

Not a local, but I bought a local SIM with Movistar, I got it for C$100 and they
got me C$100 of credit, then I subscribe to a data plan, they give you 5 days
free and after that it cost C$23($1USD) per day, I'm not sure of the transfer
limits on this plan, so far the credit is still good, receiving and making
calls and data plan(since 21/06/2012) the service is not so good though, I get
disconnected(out of network) once in a while.

Not sure if that problems are because of my hardware compatibility(N900) or just
because the service is bad, but for C$100($4.25 USD) is not bad.

> No idea how data access is spread over Nicaragua, though.

Again not sure, data is not 3G on my phone, I only get EDGE(2.5G) service and
for IRC/email/chat is ok for me but I did not try SIP yet.

Cheers
