This is a sweeping commit explicitly not allowed during a slush. Also,
I am not seeing approval by one of your mentors. Please take more care.

While you're right that this specific commit probably won't cause any
harm, it's still better not to. With the release about a week away, I'm
sure you could have waited a few days more :-)

Sorry, I'll do so. I forgot to mention in the commit message that
makc@ gave his approval, and miwi@ did not object to the commit. And
my reading of the criteria for sweeping change suggested that this
would be admissible because it was a "cosmetic change", mostly to leaf
ports (with the exception of textproc/wv). If I misunderstood what is
considered to be cosmetic, please let me know. I wanted to get this
in because I've already missed the auto-assign of two PRs related to
ports that I maintain.

Understood -- I'll err on the side of caution next time. Again, my
apologies for causing any anxiety. Any blame with regard to the
timing of the commit should attach to me and not to either of my two
co-mentors.

Sweeping commit is any commit that touches more than a couple of ports,
and it can even be more strict than that (e.g. shlib port update which
potentially can break things). Also please see RFC 1855 about excessive
quoting in email.

Are you guys done now?

Considering the change of an e-mail address as a sweeping commit in the
context of a ports freeze for a release is an interpretation that may be
"legally" correct, but really does not make any practical sense as far as
the stated rationale is concerned.

And Brendan apologized more than once nevertheless, so let's give him
some rest.

I agree with you that the default should probably be to include the
dependency, however I've been using acroread8 without the html support
and it seems to work fine, both in the browser and standalone. Of course
it fails when I try to use the help features. I'm sure that whatever you
decide will be fine.

One problem is that depending another port like linux-nvu is too big
to install only one library. A small port installing
libgtkembedmoz.so only or integrating the library installation into
the acroread8 port might be useful.

Yeah, having a separate port for just that library would be awesome, but
since I'm not in a position to do that work, I won't comment further. :)

If you have a local CVS repository, why not use CVS to update your
local src and ports trees? You can always NFS export it to other
hosts and FreeBSD's CVS supports read-only repositories.
