Stus-List Re headlamps
i also had good luck with the energizer headlamps with the red light. I think I found a 4 pack cheap someplace. Better than my $40 unit. I leave them in convienent spots around the boat. Issue them to overnight guests/crew/strippers. ___ Email address: CnC-List@cnc-list.com To change your list preferences, including unsubscribing -- go to the bottom of page at: http://cnc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/cnc-list_cnc-list.com
Re: Stus-List Spinnaker pole storage
I got it from Oyster Bay Boat Shop, but they may only sell wholesale. I think the cost was around 1400. Probably 10 years ago. My original pole was 4 ½ , too big to mess with. Forespar stops making 3 ½ tubes at around 16 feet, but they agreed to do this at 17 feet and 3 ½ if they could put a couple extra wraps of carbon on , which was fine with me. It is light enough I could throw it like a javelin. The best thing is that to deploy, you just pop the bottom out of the urethane jaws, and pull the car down and it just shoots right out Russ, doesnt seem to be a problem in front of the mast as far as I can see. It is smaller than the mast, so it is kind of line an extension in my view. It has a clear coat. I am not sure if that is enough protection, but I see the 1997 J-160 down the dock with a clear coat on their carbon mast, and it is still holding up. I think it is like you have to varnish over West System to protect it. I could be wrong. I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken. Stus-List Bad day on Mobile Bay
The annual Dauphin Island race on Mobile Bay yesterday turned tragic as a severe storm ravaged the race. Dennis, I agree about Mobile Bay, I have done the Dauphin Island race and boats get strung out all up and down the Bay, leaving them sitting ducks for a squall line like that; my sympathies to all who were injured and the one sailor lost. Re: Stus-List Bad day on Mobile Bay
Mobile Bay is synonymous with squalls. Had many more crossings of the bay with them than without them. It is open and shallow water which translates to instant chop. We pray for the lost. Stus-List 30 Mkii
I'm back. Last time I was looking at a couple of 35 Mkiii boats. I'm still mulling over one of them. But there is a 1988 C&C 30 Mkii available that is probably a better size for me. Price is quite high due to a repowering in 2008. In looking at the layout, I'm curious about the aft berth - how usable is this? Otherwise, the boat seems quite well laid out. Appreciate any feedback on how they sail or things to watch out for. Thanks, Dave ___ Email address: CnC-List@cnc-list.com To change your list preferences, including unsubscribing -- go to the bottom of page at: http://cnc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/cnc-list_cnc-list.com
Re: Stus-List 30 Mkii
Dave, I am 6 feet tall and my wife is about 5’ 7” and we use the aft berth and put our 9 year old daughter in the V. The length is fine for us, the biggest issue is the height on the inboard side where the cockpit floor cuts in. It makes that side somewhat confined, and difficult to get out of, especially when there are 2 of you. I would not live aboard, but for a handful of nights each summer, it works fine for us. Overall, we love our 30-2. The amenities are wonderful for a 30 foot boat, and the cabin is very pleasant with ample headroom and plenty of light. The boat sails well too. Re: Stus-List 30 Mkii
Jim, Thanks for the info. I'm 6' as well. So the aft berth would better suited for one person? How is the leg room in the V-berth? I don't plan to live aboard, but we'd be spending several weeks cruising each summer, hopefully.
