[Clamav-users] Documentation patch.

2007-12-13 Thread G.W. Haywood
Hi there,

The clamav-milter manpage says

"-Q, --quarantine=EMAILADDRESS
If this e-mail address is given, messages containing a virus or
  worm are redirected to it."

However it doesn't say that if you use this option then infected mail
will be accepted rather than rejected. I don't see why it should be
necessary to accept infected mail under any circumstances, but since
that's what happens I think it ought to be documented. So I suggest
adding something like

" If this option is specified then the mail message will be accepted,
even if it would otherwise have been rejected."

In future I'll quarantine infected mail to a directory instead of by
email to the postmaster. :)

It would be necessary for reference reasons. I have all infected
messages send to a special "virus" account on my e-mail server so I can
later go back and read headers or what not to determine where it came
from should I see a ton of the same virus. It's also handy to have a
virus on file to send for test reasons to see how well other AV
solutions works with a large variety of virus ready e-mails.

So I find the feature very useful and it has a good purpose for me.

That's implicit, IMHO. There's no such thing as "rejected" to an
EMAILADDRESS. "reject" denotes an SMTP 5.x.x status code (4.x.x also, if you
will) that precludes the accepting of the mail. Conversely, mail which is
sent to EMAILADDRESS is by definition accepted for delivery; hence, per
definition not rejected; hence, no documentation change required. :)

[Clamav-users] Please Help -- Turn of Notification

2007-12-13 Thread Quanzhong Zhang

Hi,

Would you kindly help me?
I'd like to know how to disable sending of notification to Administrator
users. When a Virus is found by ClamAV, a notification email is sent to
original sender and Administrator.

I have read the list archives and not found a way fit me.

My environment as following,
OS: CentOS 5.0 X86_64
ClamAV: 0.91.2
Use " /usr/local/bin/clamscan" to scan the file of Moodle, I am not scan
Email, just scan file.

Thanks,
Zhang QZ

How would you redirect a mail you did not accept before?
