You need to reboot *after* updating snap, in case the update changes the
location of the executable.

Well the instructions I gave a link to earlier, on installing Chirp, stated
to reboot before updating snap, so I did that, that should be as good as
logging out and back in.

It sounds like a PATH issue, the directory you installed snap into must not
be in your path, that defines where Linux looks for executables.

I wonder if logging out and back in would cause your updated PATH to be
used? I'm certain you can update PATH without logging out and back in, but
the command eludes needs at the moment.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I do have the right model, but I don’t know
whether there is an actual download, or whether the sw only reports an error
when no answer is received when it queries. I might put a scope on the cable
to see what is happening on each wire.

Re: [chirp_users] Chirp on RPi

I have a RPi 4 with Raspbian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) installed.

I was able to

sudo pip install wxPython

and it successfully installed wxPython 4.1.1. 4.2.0 failed, but 4.1.1
succeeded.

Chirp ran just fine after that.

This will work for x86_64 machines, but won't work for systems like the
Raspberry Pi. But yeah, this gets you on a newer wxPython, which is good for
several reasons. I've added this as an optional step to this page:

I don’t know why Paul wants to change the order of columns, but generally, I
want to change the order of columns because I find some columns more useful to

It surprises me, although it shouldn't, the number of people who ask the
same question that's been asked and answered numerous times and is in the

your own research and look to see if someone in the past has had the same
question answered.

I believe it is possible I have an erroneous configuration in my CHIRP Settings
page (that have more choices than the Menu pages on the radios) that is causing
this problem. However, I again performed a factory reset of both radios, I
switched them to Frequency Mode and manually entered 444.875 Mhz, an R-DCS
value of OFF, an R-CTCS value of OFF, a T-CTCS value of 100.0HZ, a SFT-D value
of + and an OFFSET value of 5.000 and the radios still do not work with the
repeater in that configuration. There are other selections in the Settings tab
of CHIRP that do not get erased/replaced during a Reset and we do use some
custom settings in there, but I have a feeling they are not relevant to this
problem. If there are no other ideas, then this is probably not a CHIRP
problem and I will take this off the CHIRP Users site and figure out how to
find a local expert to solicit some help from. Thank you again for your time.

I forgot to mention that you cannot monitor yourself talking through a
repeater with another radio close to you. The transmitting radio's
