[chirp_users] Bricked UV82HP & BF-F8HP

2023-02-01 Thread Jeff Gallaway
I was using a tidradio bluetooth programming adaptor and after programming
the scan feature stopped working and the programmed channels wouldn't
program and a lot of other issues that I assume come with a bricked radio.
I tried resetting both radios from the menu but it didn't help. I'm
assuming the firmware is messed up somehow.

UV82HP -
Hold down #3 and power on- US2S35
Hold down #6 & power on- 150602N
BF-F8HP -
Hold down #3 and power on- F8HP-1
Hold down #6 & power on6- 160102

I'm not sure if there's a way to do a hard reset in chirp to get everything
back to factory settings or if I have to do something with the firmware?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm better at seeing how it's done on video
rather than following steps but anything is worth a try right now.

Thanks, Jeff

Also, I have learned a lot about radio stuff from the ai software and if it
doesnt know about something, it will do a quick search and upload it to
memory to give better answers. I use you.com but there are others.

Re: [chirp_users] The meaning of CHIRP...

2023-02-17 Thread Jeff Gallaway
I'm not sure if my screenshot went through. I got a message saying my
message was blocked by moderator or something like that. The ai software
basically derived its name from the chirp sound a radio makes when
communicating.

Re: [chirp_users] Changing data Baofeng UV5

2023-02-17 Thread Jeff Gallaway
Another thing that confused me when I first programmed my baofengs was the
vfo channel mode and frequency modes. If it's in frequency mode then it
won't display the names either. You can make channel A or channel B display
the name or both slots if you want to, which only shows the names when on
the channel mode screen. On the uv82 you have to hold down menu and turn
the power on to change modes but most of the others have an easier way to
change it.

Re: [chirp_users] Default factory images server…

2023-03-25 Thread Jeff Gallaway
I remember seeing it recently, it was a link in a chat on how to fix my
bf-f8hp & uv82hp that i thought were bricked but I didn't end up using it.
I'll see if I can find it again. I think I bookmarked it in my favorites
but I'll check. I think the chat where I found the link was talking about
bricked baofeng radios.

Thanks, Jeff

I don't know if this is the same one but there's a link in this website:

I think the one I saw was a chat in the reddit app but this one looks
similar. Miklor.com might have one also.

Re: [chirp_users] New chirp-next build

2023-03-28 Thread Jeff Gallaway
Does anyone know how to unlock gmrs transmit on the Wouxun KG-UV980P? I
read somewhere that it can be done with chirp but wasn't sure how it's
done. I think there's another way to do it by downloading a file on ham
files but I'm more familiar with chirp and would rather go that route if
it's possible.

Thanks, Jeffrey Gallaway

Re: [chirp_users] New chirp-next build

2023-03-29 Thread Jeff Gallaway
There's a lot of wouxun radios that can be unlocked for gmrs tx, almost all
of them. I just figured out how it's done. If you buy it directly from
wouxun you can request it to be unlocked before they ship it but the ones
sold here are locked and you have to change some frequency limits to allow
it to tx on gmrs. You still have to decide if you want to use an fcc
approved gmrs radio or if you want to change those settings or not on the
UV-980P and others that are not fcc approved for gmrs. Kind of silly but
that's the way it is.

Thanks, Jeff

Where did you buy it from? I never knew wouxun made a quad band ht until I
looked this one up. I don't know about chirp support though.

Thanks, Jeff

Does chirp support the quensheng uv-k6 yet? I know it's a fairly new model
so wasn't sure if it had been added.

Re: [chirp_users] Stable low cost radio with flat audio

2024-03-09 Thread Jeff Gallaway
I think the k6 might be similar design as the k5 but didn't know much about
it. I just ordered one on Ali and havnt tried connecting it to chirp yet.
Once it gets here, I'll connect it and give it a try. If the k5 is in chirp
then it will probably be fine.

Thanks, Jeff
