[chirp_users] CHIRP support for MacOS/Prolific
Hi, Just received a Yaesu FT-65R and a genuine SCU-35 programing cable (Prolific PL2303). I tried programming my radio with CHIRP4 on Monterey 12.1 on a 2020 MacBook Air, and CHIRP3 on Catalina 10.15 on a 2017 MacBook Air and receive an error with both configurations. Having received the error, I tried to install the Prolific driver found here: http://www.prolific.com.tw/us/showproduct.aspx?p_id=229&pcid=41 I am unclear if the driver was needed or installed correctly. Does anyone have experience with later versions of MacOS/CHIRP/FT-65R? Are you using the Unified daily builds? On Tue, Feb 8, 2022 at 16:05 Gary Ross wrote: > Hi, > > Just received a Yaesu FT-65R and a genuine SCU-35 programing cable > (Prolific PL2303). What do you mean by CHIRP4 and CHIRP3? The very old "stable" builds (v0.4.x and v0.3.x from 2014 and before)? These should not be used. Today it is recommended that you download and install the MacOS Unified Application. > Having received the error, I tried to install the Prolific driver found here: > http://www.prolific.com.tw/us/showproduct.aspx?p_id=229&pcid=41 I am unclear > if the driver was needed or installed correctly. The drivers written by the Prolific company have dropped support for the older PL2303 XA chip that many generic programming cables use. To get around this issue with Windows you can simply download, install and select the older Prolific v3.2.0.0 driver. It isn't that easy with macOS. What I did here to get around the issue was to purchase a Prolific driver from a 3rd party developer (https://www.mac-usb-serial.com/). The driver is not free, but it has been discounted 42% for quite some time for €6.90 (which was $9.11 when I purchased it). > Does anyone have experience with later versions of MacOS/CHIRP/FT-65R? Re: [chirp_users] BAOFENG UV-13Pro
Have you checked the supported radios list? I don't see that one listed. https://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Supported_Radios Thanks, Bob KA1TTG On Tue, Feb 8, 2022 at 4:16 PM atom33 wrote: > Hi, > > receive a new Baofeng UV-13Pro with cable and can't communicate with, do > you have some issues please ? > > Thank's > ___ > chirp_users mailing list > chirp_users@intrepid.danplanet.com > http://intrepid.danplanet.com/mailman/listinfo/chirp_users > This message was sent to Bob at boban...@gmail.com > To unsubscribe, send an email to > chirp_users-unsubscr...@intrepid.danplanet.com > To report this email as off-topic, please email > chirp_users-ow...@intrepid.danplanet.com > ___ chirp_users mailing list chirp_users@intrepid.danplanet.com http://intrepid.danplanet.com/mailman/listinfo/chirp_users This message was sent to arch...@mail-archive.com at arch...@mail-archive.com To unsubscribe, send an email to chirp_users-unsubscr...@intrepid.danplanet.com To report this email as off-topic, please email chirp_users-ow...@intrepid.danplanet.com

I believe it is similar to the Baofeng UV-15R which is also not supported by CHIRP. Re: [chirp_users] CHIRP support for MacOS/Prolific
One thing you can try is to go to Apple Menu > About this Mac > System Report >From there, scroll down the left side and click USB. Plug in your cable, hit Command-R to refresh. See if a new device appears, remove the cable, refresh again, see if it goes away. If you can see the cable appear and disappear then you've got drivers for it already working. MacOS does have some drivers built-in. ___ chirp_users mailing list chirp_users@intrepid.danplanet.com http://intrepid.danplanet.com/mailman/listinfo/chirp_users This message was sent to arch...@mail-archive.com at arch...@mail-archive.com To unsubscribe, send an email to chirp_users-unsubscr...@intrepid.danplanet.com To report this email as off-topic, please email chirp_users-ow...@intrepid.danplanet.com
Re: [chirp_users] BAOFENG UV-13Pro
You can try one of the other models listed. Some may be compatible with yours. Export to chirp and get a feel for the stuff your radio exports.
