[CentOS] How to display laptop screen on LCD TV?
Hi, I am running CentOS 5.2 on Acer laptop, I try to display laptop screen on a LCD TV via VGA cable. You are right, the CentOS version 5 does not support the video driver of the Intel graphic chipset. The FC9 works fine. Now the question is where can I download video driver for CentOS 5? Or, is there anything I can do to work around to resolve this problem? I have to use this version of CentOS which our development was based on. Thank you. Actually, I tried without echo $? first, it display lots of parameters, seems file. I can try the echo $? again, what is the correct command for it? I can use vlc to play the *.wav or other audio files, but I tried to figure out where is the block or missing link with the audio. Right now, no sound when I run vlc to play audio files. If I could check and play in some means with low level driver first, I guess I could find if the problem is high level applications or low lever drivers. Seems that the drivers all there, but don't know if them are working or not. Thank you. [CentOS] MySQL in CentOS 5.2
Hi, I've just installed MySQL (mysql.i386 5.0.45-7.el5) and lighty (lighttpd.i386 1.4.19-1.el5.rf) to the CentOS 5.2, but could not find mysql and lighttpd scripts in /etc/init.d. Also there is no /usr/bin/mysql_install_db. Where can I find mysql and lighttpd scripts for starting the processes in init.d? Thank you. [CentOS] Send syslog to a remote server
Hi, I am running CentOS 5 and I tried to config flowing statement in syslog.conf to send syslog messages to a remote server running on FC 9, but it did not work. There was nothing send to the FC9. "*.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none@@192.168.1.5" Could anyone advice whether the syslog in CentOS 5 does not support remote server, or I could be missing something? The rsyslog.conf in FC 9 is much easy to be configured, just enable the InputTCPServerRun and ModLoad. It is not the problem in FC 9 rsyslog server, it is the problem in CentOS syslog, no messages sending to FC9 when I checked with tcpdump on port 514 on FC9. Has anyone made CentOS 5 syslog work to send messages to remote syslog server? Or, I am wondering if it has never worked on CentOS 5? Thanks Dag and all responses. In my case, the remote server is running rsyslog, but that the CentOS syslog should be able to talk to RH9 rsyslog, right? > Have you "tcpdumped" udp or tcp? Tried both. [CentOS] syslog to remote server
Hi, I set up the syslog.conf to log local0 and local1 to a remote log server: *.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none;local0.none;local1.none /var/log/messages local0.*;local1.* @192.168.1.2 The messages from local0 worked fine, all sent to the remote log server. But all messages from local1 were still displayed in /var/log/messages despite it has been set to local1.none. Of cause, no local1 messages were sending to the remote server. Could I be missing something here, or could be a bug in 2.6.18-53.el5 which I am running? Thank you.
