[CentOS] Wireless

2009-11-30 Thread Davy Leon
Hi folks

I have a Centos 5.3 Box and I'm trying to setup an small wireless link with
the AP of a neighbour. I have a brand new NETGEAR WG111V2 USB-WIFI adaptor
for that, but Centos doesn't recognize that. Any suggestions? I already
tested it on windows XP and the link works fine. How can I do this on
Centos?

Thanks in advance

David

to build an small network for our computers.

happens.

Any suggestions?

[CentOS] NTP

2009-12-17 Thread Davy Leon
Hi folks

I have a Centos 5.3. I'm wondering how can I make this linux box to act as a
time server for my small network.
I just need this Centos PC act as a time reference for the other PCs so they
can keep the time exact the same as the Centos server. Don;t need to syncronize
the server with tyhe internet, just keep my local network with the same time in
all the PC.

Thanks in advance

[CentOS] Fetchmail question

2009-12-18 Thread Davy Leon
Hi folks

This question is about fetchmail running on my Centos 5.3 box.
I need to fetch my email from different accounts living on remote servers and
drop it on my local mailbox.
The question is wich way is faster for fetchmail... using POP3 or IMAP?

Thanks

Re: [CentOS] Fetchmail question

2009-12-18 Thread Davy Leon
Actually I'm using POP3, but just looking for improvements in speed. Plus,
fetchm, ail doesn't allow fetch more than one account at a time, and it's
kind slow in the secure handshaking. There is another package should I
"explore" using it to improve speed?

Thanks for your answer

David

Not sure I could say which is faster, but POP3 is more simple and is
intended for what you are doing. IMAP is meant to have all messages
stored on the server and thus supports folders and other more advanced
features.

Based on what you are trying to accomplish, I would use POP3.

[CentOS] wifi

Hi folks

I'm trying to use a Netgear WG111-2 USB-wifi adapter on a Centos 5.3 Box.
Someone has done it? It seems not to be supported by the kernel.

Thanks
