how embarassing. there was indeed an exclude on ibutils-libs. (this must
be some leftover from using mlnx ofed. we are switching from c73+mlnx
ofed 3.4 to c74 stock ib (there's no mlnxofed3.4 for c74, and our old
testbed has connectx2, so we can't use mlnxofed 4.1) )

never start debugging things on a friday evening i guess ;)

thanks and sorry for the noise.

Re: [CentOS] yum repo issue

2017-09-30 Thread Stijn De Weirdt
hi all,

in case someone else runs into it, it is the opfed-scripts rpm that has
a postinstall and postuninstall script that changes the yum.conf (bad,
mellanox, bad)

for a pure/regular uninstall it works fine, but to swap ibutils from
mlnxofed to ib stack from os, yum obviously doesn't know that the
exclude will be removed.

i've seen worse in vendor-provided rpms, but i guess it caught me
offguard ;)

[CentOS] compile webkit

2017-09-30 Thread Jerry Geis
I am trying to compile webkitgtk
I downloaded the webkit source, extracted

CMake Error at Source/cmake/OptionsGTK.cmake:12 (message):
GCC 4.9.0 is required to build WebKitGTK+, use a newer GCC version or
clang

I downloaded 2.14.7 - just like CentOS 7.4 has, how can I be getting a GCC
error ?

My goal is to get the MediaSource package in webkit working. It seems to
not be enabled.
Is there a better way ?

Thanks,

Jerry

[CentOS] LVM not activating on reboot

2017-09-30 Thread Duncan Brown

Hi

I've recently rebuilt my home server using centos 7, and transplanted
over the main storage disks

It's a 3 disk raid5, with an lvm storage group (vg03) on there

Activating and mounting works fine:

# vgscan
  Reading volume groups from cache.
Found volume group "vg03" using metadata type lvm2

# vgchange -ay
1 logical volume(s) in volume group "vg03" now active

# lvscan
  ACTIVE    '/dev/vg03/storage' [<1.82 TiB] inherit

I can then mount /dev/vg03/storage as expected

However on a reboot, boot fails if I add that entry to fstab:

'Timed out waiting for device dev-mapper-vg03\x2dstorage.device'

I then have to activate it again with vgchange. I'm guessing I'm going
to need a grub option, or do something with dracut but I'm a bit stuck here

Thanks

Duncan

You can add the kernel option "rd.lvm.lv=vg03/storage" but that *should*
only be necessary if that mount point is needed in the early boot process.

What does your fstab entry look like?

No joy after adding the kernel option, exactly the same issue
