indeed .. but everything that ends up released for devtoolset (or any

Here are where all the builds for EL6 devtoolset live:

Not only are all the devtoolset SRPMS there, so are all of the build
requirements that are not in the other location .. and if you want,
every build log (and build root log) for any built SRPM so you can see
the exact packages in the build root, etc.

It's not so much that editing files won't work, but that in many cases

We see the same thing with the new firewalld. iptables didn't go away. It's
just hidden behind firewalld configuration, which automatically writes
iptables rules. I liken it to going from assembly language to a higher
level language to describe my programming problems. And the new systems

Check the USB driver source code to see what would elicit this error.

You should be able to use USB2 devices in a USB3 port with no issues, as
others have said, they use different pins and both are there.

I have never seen anyone have to do anything to use USB2 devices on a
USB3 port except plug it in.

[CentOS] Centos 7 httpd Permission problems with Postfixadmin

2017-02-17 Thread Robert Moskowitz

More joy with Centos 7.

I am having permission problems with Postfixadmin. I am installing as I have in
my notes I did in Centos6 and it is not working.

I untar Postfixadmin into /usr/share. The owner is root:root (I even
tried root:apache). My postfixadmin.conf file has:

alias /mailadmin /usr/share/postfixadmin

AllowOverride AuthConfig

And I get when I try fqdn/mailadmin

You don't have permission to access /mailadmin on this server.

When I google this message, I am getting that httpd is not allowing me
access. I have even added:

allow from all

To the above .conf with no change.

This is not a SELInux problem as I tried 'setenforce 0' and still get the error.

It is as if there is some new security setting in httpd for files not in the
www dir (default of /var/www/).

Any ideas?

thanks

No, accessing directories outside document root is perfectly acceptable

What do the apache logs say about it? That will tell you if it's a

It tells apache to obey .htaccess files in the document directory - in
other words it "allows" the .htaccess file to "override" the configured
parameters. The arguments to it say what subset of commands can be
overridden - AuthConfig allows authorisation configuration.

[CentOS] Oracle support 12c

2017-02-17 Thread Silva-Borrego, Mario, DPS
All,

I know it might sound a repetitive question although I have not found anything
to help me online.

Anyone knows if Oracle support will support CentOS with Oracle 12c? I know RHEL
6 & 7 is listed as supported OS, but I want to double check if that includes
CentOS 6 & 7.

The reason I am asking is because I want to migrate all servers I am receiving
from old management to CentOS, currently is a mixed between SLES and RHEL

Any insight will be appreciated

[CentOS] Working on installing mailgraph on Centos7-arm - challenges with rpms

2017-02-17 Thread Robert Moskowitz
One of the joys with getting a little ahead of where epel-armv7hl is, is
trying to install packages where not all the dependencies have been
debugged.

So I am trying to install mailgraph, that i get the noarch rpm from
Centos7-x86_64.

But it needs RRD which I actually got from the armv7hl building; it just
did not make it to the repo.

But it wants libpango and libpangocairo.

I can't find what provides those. They are not anywhere available to my
Fedora 24 notebook and I don't have any 'normal' Centos7 system these days.

Does the conf file that contains the "/usr/share/postfixadmin" alias also
contain a Directory block? Something like this:

Alias /postfixadmin /usr/share/postfixadmin

...stuff here...

Look for the old style "Order Deny,Allow" and "Deny from All" and remove them
if it does, and put the "Require all granted" there.

So it's an authorisation issue. In your .htaccess file change

Order allow,deny
Allow from all

to the apache 2.4 version

Require all granted

See http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/upgrading.html

Not there still. In /var/www/html I created .htaccess:

# ls -lstra
total 12
4 drwxr-xr-x. 4 root root 4096 Feb 6 16:06 ..
4 drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Feb 17 13:32 .
4 -rw-r--r--. 1 root apache 21 Feb 17 13:32 .htaccess

# cat .htaccess
  Require all granted

restarted httpd, and still get the error.

[Fri Feb 17 13:36:17.366525 2017] [authz_core:error] [pid 5844] [client
192.168.160.12:48370] AH01630: client denied by server configuration:
/usr/share/postfixadmin

Does the conf file that contains the "/usr/share/postfixadmin" alias also
contain a Directory block? Something like this:

Alias /postfixadmin /usr/share/postfixadmin

...stuff here...

Look for the old style "Order Deny,Allow" and "Deny from All" and remove them if it does,
and put the "Require all granted" there.

Pingo. I had a 'allow from all' there. Changed it to:

# cat /etc/httpd/conf.d/postfixadmin.conf
alias /mailadmin /usr/share/postfixadmin

AllowOverride AuthConfig
#allow from all
Require all granted

and it works.

THANKS.

Going to have to seriously read that upgrading page...

If not kept up-to-date, yes. Adobe changed their minds a few months
ago, and now provide up-to-date Flash 24.X for linux, complete with
security patches as required. Of course, "zero-day exploits" can still
happen.

> Do the answers depend on the browser?

Most browsers nowadays have the option to set one of 3 values...
1) Never activate
2) Ask-to-Activate (like the old NoFlash plugin)
3) Always activate

The settings can be different for each profile. If you often visit a
site that requires flash, you can set up a separate profile for it, and
select option 3. For other profiles, you can use options 1 and/or 2.

Yes, it is hidden, but 'ls -lsa' will show it. And mlocate's updatedb
finds them as in:

/home/rgm/.bash_history

which is another hidden file.

That's not how the .htaccess file works. It needs to be in the
directory specified in the postfixadmin.conf file - i.e. the
configuration

 AllowOverride AuthConfig

means to look in the .htaccess file in /usr/share/postfixadmin when
accessing any file in that directory (and below) for authorisation
information.

Putting it in /var/www/html will have no effect.

If you don't have a .htaccess file, then why have the
AllowOverride directive in the .conf file?

Putting AllowOverride in means that every time apache retrieves a file
from that directory, *and every directory below*, it will look for a
.htaccess file in the current directory, and every directory above
(until it reaches the original directory). It doesn't cache the
information (because it can change), so it means a significant increase
in the amount of disk activity for each page. It also provides another
attack surface for naughty people.

So in general if you don't use, or intend to use, .htaccess files, then
don't put in the AllowOverride directive.

Yes, all directories need to have 'Require all granted' on them
somewhere - if you look in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf there is the
definition of the default document root and in that it has the Require
line - that is inherited by all subdirectories so you don't need to
explicitly state it. But if you use a directory outside document root,
then you need to put it into the definition.

And again if you don't intend to use .htaccess files, then remove the
AllowOverride line.

I don't think Oracle ever mentions CentOS in their compatibility matrices.
They would be compatible with Oracle Linux 6 and 7, of course, which should
by itself infer compatibility with EL6, EL7, and Centos 6 and 7. But
"compatibility" may not translate to "support".

In business world this kind of thing is always negotiable. Every situation is
different, and it ultimately depends on how much leverage you have, like how
many instances and what level of support you have and are buying, and your
relationship with Oracle sales rep.

I don't know your situation, but I'll likely stay with RHEL (or Unbreakable) if
I need Oracle support. The cost of RHEL won't add too much to the opex, but
having someone to call in case of a meltdown is critical for your CIO's career.

Yes, it would take a long time, but the man page for mdadm implies that
it's reasonably safe (sorry for long lines):

Changing the number of active devices in a RAID5 or RAID6 is much more
effort. Every block in
the array will need to be read and written back to a new location.
From 2.6.17, the Linux Ker-
nel is able to increase the number of devices in a RAID5 safely,
including restarting an inter-
rupted "reshape". From 2.6.31, the Linux Kernel is able to increase
or decrease the number of
   devices in a RAID5 or RAID6.
[...]
When relocating the first few stripes on a RAID5 or RAID6, it is not
possible to keep the data
on disk completely consistent and crash-proof. To provide the required
safety, mdadm disables
writes to the array while this "critical section" is reshaped, and
takes a backup of the data
that is in that section. For grows, this backup may be stored in any
spare devices that the
array has, however it can also be stored in a separate file
specified with the --backup-file
option, and is required to be specified for shrinks, RAID level changes
and layout changes. If
this option is used, and the system does crash during the critical
period, the same file must be
passed to --assemble to restore the backup and reassemble the array.
When shrinking rather than
growing the array, the reshape is done from the end towards the
beginning, so the "critical sec-
tion" is at the end of the reshape.

(Thanks to Gordon for the pointer to the GROW section of the mdam man page.)

It's been a long time since I did this, but I seem to remember resizing
an md array of ~10 2TB drives in a RAID5 by adding one drive and reshaping
to RAID6, and it took 2-3 days.

The old 3ware controllers claimed to be able to support this sort of reshaping,
but I only tried once and it failed. I don't know if LSI or Areca
supports it.
