'Ease of use' is subjective. I find them very easy to use and the man pages
should be able to direct you.

As to would I suggest a program, I prefer to do things by hand when it comes
to DNS. The reason for this is so that I understand the internal workings
and how things are setup. I am able to log into a server and look at the
config files and understand how this server is working. Should the front end
program be programmed with an unforeseen bug, I am still able to fix what the
program has broken and keep my services up and running until the bug is
fixed.

I am the DNS support person for my companies global DNS infrastructure. The
company I work for uses Men & Mice as it's front end and I am thankful for
this. The amount of DNS changes done daily is staggering and this tool helps
a lot. I do not have experience with other DNS front ends.

If I were supporting a small DNS setup (a hand full of domains that the
records do not change often) I think I would prefer to do this by hand.

Haha, I am not worried about that at all. I will point him over here. He

Not possible...he has to access a postgresql server via console to run
sql commands or fix up some other access. Likewise with vpopmail admin.
He has to add new disks and (sigh) move the vpopmail stuff at the very
least over to the filesystems. You guys can help him if he gets himself
on the list. Doing final data checking on the disks. I got the partition
layout wrong in the end but I have that sorted now. Got both md devices
back online and pvscan checked out during the rebuild of the md array
that is the basis for the pv so I guess things will be okay later too.
Just got a final fsck to run on the logvols and I am tossing this back
in his hands. (Bored yet?)

Things have not turned out as bad as I thought they might have. Ah well,
at least I know there is way to check lvm metadata now.

Link here just in case someone can point out any errors as I have not
quite have to opportunity to put the information to the test.

This package is not meant to be in the x86_64 tree, and was removed
before the packages were pushed. Since the emails are sent out early in
the process, its still mentioned in the email.

If that box is really still on 5.0, you should upgrade to 5.3, for

I always found it handy to use ASSET#_VG#_MMDDHHMM as a "default" pattern

You could do init 3 followed by init 5, but there's probably a better
way I'm blanking on at the moment.

Also, please follow the group convention and do not top post.

[CentOS] xrdp in EPEL

2009-08-15 Thread Rob Townley
xrdp is a service that allows you to use mstsc or rdesktop to view
your Linux desktop from afar.

xrdp is packaged for Fedora and EPEL

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=9026

now you can just type yum -y install xrdp to install it.

it's also available in EPEL repo (for redhat enterprise and centos)

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/FAQ#howtouse

I have only installed from source, haven't tried this rpm.

Try setting the MTU on the DSL interface to 1492 if you're doing PPPoE.

If not, get a better Internet provider.
