[CentOS] wireless resourches for RHEL3
Does anybody have any good RHEL3 wireless (802.11) resources? I'm googling and haven't yet found anything good and am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos

This CD is based on our CentOS-5.0 i386 distribution. It can be used as a Workstation, with the following software: OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 Firefox 1.5.0.10 Thunderbird 1.5.0.10 Gaim-2.0.0 Scribus-1.3.3 xchat-2.6.6 k3b-0.12.17 Gimp-2.2.13 It can also be used as a rescue CD with the following tools: 1. Full set of LVM and RAID command line tools 2. QTParted 3. Nmap and NMapFE 4. Graphical Traceroute 5. samba-3.0.23c with cifs kernel support to connect to Windows file shares 6. System Log Viewer 7. GUI Hardware Device Manager The CentOS 5 i386 Live CD is based on the ADIOS Live CD Project: http://os.cqu.edu.au/adios/adk.html This CD has a non writable /usr directory, which means it is not able to have software installed on it after boot up. The CentOS team is working hard to create a Live CD for CentOS 5 that is based on the Fedora Live CD Project (that is writable in all directories and even able to be used for installs) ... unfortunately we were not able to get this working with CentOS 5 for this release. We hope to get that Live CD working by the release of CentOS 5.1. That means that the purposes of this CD are to see if CentOS will boot/work on your hardware, to test some of the features of CentOS as a workstation, and to use as a Rescue CD. It does not contain all the features of the 7 CD CentOS 5 Distribution on one CD :) The CentOS Project would like to thank Patrice Guay ( http://www.nanotechnologies.qc.ca ) for the creation of this CD. Patrice did the Tao Linux live CDs in the past and graciously donated his time and effort to make this one too. CentOS doesn't because RHEL doesn't. If you don't like it, take it up with them. :-) CentOS realizes that many people will want this, so they rebuild postfix and put it in centosplus for your convenience (at least they did for 4 - I'm not sure where they are with 5 on this aspect). Ok Matt; I've done it. * download the source RPM. * install it * modify the spec file * rebuild with new spec file. [CentOS] udev - by-id
Hi, I am trying to set up a CentOS 4 machine with various iSCSI mounts for Oracle, but devices keep on moving around, causing the mounts to fail while called by the sd[a-f] names. We thought about using labels, but, as some of the partitions do not use EXT3, that was discarded, so we thought about using udev and by-id. The problem is that udev does not seem to create the by-id folder or any files within it, while the by-path all get created. The rules file, 51-by-id.rules contains details for the both of them, but the by-id do not get detected, at least the logs don't indicate so. The current contents of the rules file is as follows: KERNEL="dasd*[!0-9]", PROGRAM="/sbin/dasd_id", SYMLINK="disk/by-id/ccw-%c" KERNEL="dasd*[0-9]", PROGRAM="/sbin/dasd_id", SYMLINK="disk/by-id/ccw-%c-part%n" SYMLINK="disk/by-id/scsi-%c" SYMLINK="disk/by-id/scsi-%c-part%n" KERNEL="sd*", PROGRAM="/sbin/path_id", SYMLINK="disk/by-path/%c" KERNEL="hd*", PROGRAM="/sbin/path_id", SYMLINK="disk/by-path/%c" KERNEL="dasd*", PROGRAM="/sbin/path_id", SYMLINK="disk/by-path/%c" KERNEL="sd*", PROGRAM="/sbin/scsi_id", SYMLINK="disk/by-id/scsi-%c" Any help will be appreciated. I just tried the Centos 5 Live CD on my Thinkpad T41. It works pretty good but did not recognize my Laptop's modem or WiFi (I guess no surprise there). I do have a CardBus modem that is not a Win-modem that I could try when I get home. I did not see anyway to configure a PPP dialup call. Is there a way to run kppp or Gnome's equivalent? ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
[CentOS] latest Asterisk on CentOS 5 64 bit ?
I will install CentOS 5 x86_64 on my home server. Among other things, that machine will run Asterisk with an analog card connected to my analog phone line, sort of a home-brewed PBX with VoIP capabilities. The latest Asterisk version as of now is 1.4.7.1 I am trying to find RPM packages for CentOS 5 but so far no luck. The best site so far is this: http://djflux.net/rpms/fedora/6/ It's Fedora 6 so it may recompile on CentOS 5. Anyone else using recent Asterisk versions on CentOS 5 64 bit? Where did you get your packages from? -- Florin Andrei http://florin.myip.org/ ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
