[ccp4bb] Postdoctoral position at the Karolinska Institute: Deadline March 5, 2025

2025-02-13 Thread Opher Gileadi
Postdoctoral fellow in protein production/structural biology.

https://ki.varbi.com/what:job/jobID:795999/

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated post-doctoral research fellow in
protein production/
structural biology, to join an international open science project in
translational medical research. The
project aims to investigate under-studied human genes as potential drug targets
through generation of
open-access knowledge and high-quality research tools. Part of this includes
the expansion of the
chemical switching technology that was recently established at Karolinska. This
is an exciting
opportunity to work on producing and characterizing novel human protein
variants and recombinant
antibodies to human targets, using a combination of molecular biology,
biochemistry and structural
biology. We offer a multi-national and collaborative research environment at
the EUbOPEN projects
with partners in academia and the biomedical industry worldwide.
This position is jointly supervised by Maurice Michel and Opher Gileadi.

[ccp4bb] Off topic: Consumables for microscale thermophoresis

2025-02-13 Thread Markus Seeliger
Dear All,
We are using the nanotemper MST for protein-ligand interactions and I
wanted to explore alternative sources for the nanotemper capillaries and
their labeling dyes. They are rather pricey in the US compared to the EU
and the labeling kits work less well in our hands than labeling with
similar chemistry from other sources.
Thank you for your insights.

Markus Seeliger

[ccp4bb] Registration Open. Macromolecular Crystallography School, Madrid (May 12–16, 2025)

2025-02-13 Thread Armando Albert
Dear all,

Registration is now open for the next edition of the Macromolecular
Crystallography School, taking place in Madrid from May 12 to May 16, 2025.

Since 2010, this workshop has been organized at the Instituto de Química Física
Blas Cabrera (CSIC) and is designed for 25 graduate students and researchers
with prior expertise in crystallography and/or Cryo-EM who seek deeper insight
into advanced structural biology techniques.

The program covers key topics such as sample preparation, structure solution,
model building, crystallographic refinement, validation, and analysis of
structural results, along with an overview of the latest advancements in
structural biology. Additionally, this edition will include: The impact of
Artificial Intelligence on structure solution and low-resolution refinement,
Dynamic Crystallography at XFEL and synchrotron facilities, Ligand Building for
drug discovery.

Participants will also have the unique opportunity to learn from and contact
with world-leading researchers in Macromolecular Crystallography and Cryo-EM,
who will share their expertise.
