moving myfaces to ci.apache.org
Hi infra team! thanks for providing the new ci.a.o service. The Apache MyFaces community is currently thinking to move its build/continuum to the new platform. However, I have one question: Can we deploy artifacts to the snapshot repository and deploy the site from ci.apache.org? Currently we do that with our zone, that we have. Thanks! A slight change to name to use as the main builds area to go to, ci.apache.org has been advertised/blogged/tweeted/whatever as belonging to the buildbot setup. I think it is too late now to move that to another domain. Either way, a new name was needed for either buildbot usage or the main builds area (landing page?). So, to keep inline with this list name etc, and Wendy proposed on IRC that builds.apache.org would be a better fit for the new area. If there are no objections I'd like to ask infra if they could set that up for us? (cc:d) Gav...
vmbuild vs ci.a.o (was Re: vmbuild scheduled downtime in ~12hrs)
Hey Brett, I have a question regarding the vmbuild. Since now we have the ci.a.o "platform" is the (long-term) goal to retire the vmbuild ? -Matthias On Thu, Apr 16, 2009 at 12:23 PM, Brett Porter wrote: > I'm planning to do an operating system upgrade tomorrow on vmbuild. vmbuild scheduled downtime in ~12hrs
I'm planning to do an operating system upgrade tomorrow on vmbuild. As such, Continuum and Archiva will be down for the duration. I'll look at upgrading Continuum at the same time. Thanks, Brett

Wouldn't it be easier to just create a page like http://www.apache.org/dev/ci.html with descriptions of and pointers to all the available CI build systems? BR, Jukka Zitting

Hi Antoine, Yep, absolutely, hopefully projects can learn and/or advise from each other, as well as those looking after the relevant build servers can give advice on setups for their systems, and receive advice from projects as to what build and deploy scenarios and configurations they are after. Initial discussions and decisions as to what a project requires from a build service and which one to use should still take place on the relevant dev list. thanks and welcome! Nope. Continuum will be there as long as there are volunteers wiling to maintain it. So far, so good. Buildbot is just doing more advertising at the moment. :) I'd like to upgrade Continuum on vmbuild to 1.3.x and start using new features like parallel and distributed builds. It's waiting on another release since I had problems converting the data with the current version. -- Wendy

I had the impression on the ci.apache.org server there are CI-servers like continuum and hudson, etc. That's why I asked. So there is no continuum on ci.apache.org, or am I now totally wrong? -Matthias > > I'd like to upgrade Continuum on vmbuild to 1.3.x and start using new > features like parallel and distributed builds. Correct, Continuum lives on vmbuild.apache.org, and hudson lives somewhere else. ci.apache.org is only buildbot. The domain name is probably too generic, but it's already been communicated and would be difficult to change. In another thread people are talking about having a landing page that explains all the available options, which should help. -- Wendy

The domain name is now I got it...thanks! Ok! I guess I am looking "support" on vmbuild server than. I think the Trinidad code is already building there (next to the myfaces zone). Does the vmbuild also allow deployment of site and (nightly) snapshots to the snap_repo ? -Matthias > probably too generic, but it's already been communicated and would be > difficult to change.
