This is already being worked on, see
http://savannah.gnu.org/task/?func=detailitem&item_id=1017>.

Are there any other suggestions than the proposed one, which is having
the Hurd install hurd.msgids (which contains all message ids) as
[prefix]/share/msgids/hurd.msgids and GNU Mach install gnumach.msgids
(again all message ids in there) as [prefix]/share/msgids/gnumach.msgids
and rpctrace perusing through [prefix]/share/msgids/* by default?

For now, I won't put a link onto there, but I'll for sure link to your
site as soon as you've achieved a goal that justifies putting it there.
I could imagine having GNU Mach run on an iPod to be that goal.

I wish you good luck with that. As I have absolutely no clue what
hardware these iPod devices are based on (I don't have one), I can't
directly help you with doing this port. If you have any questions about
porting, please contact us at the bug-hurd@gnu.org mailing list. In
fact, I just cced this mail to over there, so that other may also comment
on this effort.

That would be a nice thing, yes.

Oh man that just sounds good to me ;)

I wish you good luck and hope you can show us something really soon. I would
be happy to test it on my fiance's ipod :)

If you are still interested in mentoring this, can you sign up as mentor
for Debian if you haven't already?

It would be great if this task (porting d-i to GNU/Hurd) could be
tackled!
