[bdlug] Fwd: Bangladesh DST Update for All system (Internal)

2009-06-18 Thread arif rahim
Dear Friends,

Those who are still wondering what to do with the current "Day light saving"
for Bangladesh, here are the patches:

First one is for Microsoft Windows. Works for all Windows. See link:
Microsoft.  *** SEE NOTE

USE AT ON YOUR OWN RISK ==v  v  v  v  v  v  v  v  v  v  v  v

Second one for Linux. A bit customized (available ones move time at 12:00).
Customized to Start time 11:00PM->12:00 on 19th June and come back on
12:00->11:00 on 30th Sep. Procedure to implement is zipped within.

Third one is for java. Details in the README with in the zip. Java updater
does not provide a come back procedure.

USE AT ON YOUR OWN RISK== ^  ^  ^  ^  ^  ^  ^  ^  ^  ^  ^  ^

*** The patch provided by Microsoft as of now (18th June) does not work
properly. There is a way around by registry edit. It is already forwarded
to Microsoft and they are working on it. So wait till MS comes up with a
solution.

*** Same problem also observed on some of the Li*x distribution.

[bdlug] Tweaking your Routers and Servers for Daylight Saving Time (DST) in Bangladesh

2009-06-18 Thread Imtiaz Rahi
Hello All,

As you are aware, Bangladesh Government has introduced Day Light Saving Time
(DST) which will be activated from 19-06-2009 22:59.
Mango Teleservices has published a guideline to configure network devices,
workstations and server operating systems to be aligned with the DST. The
document can be accessed from the website of Mango Teleservices from the
below link: http://www.mango.com.bd/bd-dst.php

I hope that this guide will be useful for you. Let me know if you have any
feedback on this or any other queries.
I am aware and hope that Ubuntu and CentOS will publish the fix by tomorrow
through stable update channel.

Cheers,
Imtiaz Rahi

If nothing works properly in the solutions you have provided then why
