The idea is nascent but the plan is to give control of a top level
domain to each user group in the country. Then we'd have
bangalore.python.org.in etc. Under that, the webmaster is free to do
what he wants with the buy in from his community etc.

I think we should formalise that and then kick start it before doing ad
hoc stuff.

I am interested. If we can have atleast 2 - 3 people we can avoid single
point of failure. We can also identify more people and train with the
efforts.

Thanks krace.

What would you like to use for the blog engine? Can you create a git
repository with a README so that I can deploy it on IPSS server?

What subdomain do we need? Is bangalore.python.org.in good?

I think using the city name is good. Not sure if it is spoiling the
already existing brand name "bangpypers".

Wondering if it is a good idea to create a new one instead of reviving
one of the existing blogs.

http://bangpypers.blogspot.com/
http://pybangalore.blogspot.in/

blogspot has an option of serving it from custom domain, so we can use
bangalore.python.org.in if we want.

I'm open to both the options.

Ah! gnuyoga!! Good to see you active again in the group.
I'll setup permission to you once the repo is setup.

Those who are relatively new in bangpypers, Sree (aka gnuyoga) was
very active member of bangpypers back in early days and used to host
the meetings in his his office. When was it? 2005?

I prefer city names myself. The name of the group might not be as
straightforward.

Firstly, I think the IPSS should have a single point of contact for a
group. He or she can delegate to multiple people if necessary or
required but that's not our business.

Secondly, these are policy decisions for the website and to be discussed
in a different forum like IPSS. In any case, not a regional group
list. We should really get it going only after we solidify
those. Otherwise, these decisions will be ad hoc and we might later have
to revisit them.

I would like to use simple tool like pelican(
https://crate.io/packages/pelican/).

It is more likely new people will search "bangalore python user" or "python
user group bangalore". So creating bangalore.python.org.in is preffered.
Redirect bangpypers.python.org.in to bangalore.python.org.in.

I will create a new repo in github under IPSS account, not sure I have
permission to create repos or create a bangalore.python.org.in in github
and grant access.
