Had success last night, got connected at the place where I have access to a fairly weak signal. I used iwconfig with an explicit essid, which required a bit of being devious as the essid name is "shutup!" getting that ! in there requires some trickery with Linux. I think worst signal you can use to connect is practically 83-84 and you will have speed troubles and packet loss. At least this is what I heard from my ISP.
