Re: [AFMUG] What is the supply chain situation from a WISP perspective?

Depends on what you need, you may need to modify what you need to what you can
get 😊 Just a FYI. We have quite a few people who used to buy 4011s now buying
2116s etc, just cause we have stock. Keep in mind that larger is ok, just
smaller is not. 😊

There’s quite a bit of Cambium in stock in the channel. Lots of some UBNT
stock and none of a lot of SKUs. Tik is mostly backordered on the most popular
switches and routers.

Some manufacturers like Adtran and Tarana work allocation to try and keep
people moving.

If you plan ahead, it’s not that bad mostly.

I have talked to a couple of customers and it seems like this might be a side
effect of the way WISPs order stuff nowadays, and also shortages from other
(radio) vendors. For instance, I would expect that if a WISP can't get radios
for their towers they also aren't going to be ordering PoE injectors for the
nonexistent radios. I also know that a lot of people have moved to "order
several months at once" instead of "order as you go".

So I'm curious what everyone is seeing or doing from the WISP viewpoint.

Any ideas when the shortages on these will stop? Was wanting to order
a few of them for a monitoring project but they're just not available.
I do not want to feed scalpers either.

I guess this relates to the shortages of many things.

Check out the orange pi zero or orange pi 4. Much cheaper, and similar
specs. If you aren't sold on having to use raspian, they might do what you
need. Have to source from China, but that seems to be the case for most
things these days.
