Never ever ever charge lithium batteries unattended. Build yourself a box
out of cinder blocks for future charging.

[AFMUG] Data center fire prevention

So one of our sites has become pretty darn important so I was considering a
'clean agent' fire system (like Halon)

Wondering what you guys use? This room has a sprinkler, should I look at
getting it removed? Or build a shield over our racks?

If the fire didn't get us, the water will. Ugh.

I put my DeWalt 20V batteries in a charger and walk away all the time.  I 
shouldn’t do that?  I think the batteries and the chargers are both smart.

Halon will kill you if you are in the room when it goes off.  No oxygen 
availability.
Good smoke sniffer system and a rack by rack power killing system is what some 
use.

Lithium have a different charge profile from SLA, Nicad, and
  NiMH. From what I understand they don't do bulk charging?

plenty of houses and businesses lost from charging lithium batteries,
especially unattended.

If you aren't going to be present,, atleast make a little 'safe' spot with
bricks and far away from combustible materials

I have no recollection of where we were getting them, but we used to huff
halon from fire extinguishers into a balloon or an ambu bag. i can attest,
halon puts things out (people)

BMS is everything for lithium charging safety...   I built a charging 
station for charging cells using ceramic tiles..   They get extremely 
hot if they burn.
