Re: [AFMUG] OT - bacon

2020-04-18 Thread David Coudron
Might be worth the risk. Some folks guard toilet paper or bottled water like
their life depends on it, we are sitting on a cache of chicken thighs.

Seriously, these pellet smokers have been really fun to tinker with. Trying
out all kinds of new stuff, some doesn’t turn out so well, but some are pretty
good. Did corn on the cob wrapped in bacon with the last batch of meat off
the smoker. Good stuff. Doing my part to reduce the bacon glut.

Well, we are partly to blame. The chicken thighs work great in pellet
smokers, because they tend to react well to the low and slow cooking method of
smokers. They don’t dry out as fast and the darker meat picks up the smoke
flavor really well.We have tried out a bunch of new recipes using chicken
thighs. We have a great one using the smoker and Jalapenos and cream cheese,
wrapped by chicken thighs and yes… bacon. Great stuff.

I heard a news story that said we have too much bacon and not enough pork
chops. Their theory was that folks at home eat less bacon than when they go
out to eat, but grill more foods like pork chops at home. Don’t know how true
that is.

That got your attention, didn’t it.

Steve seems to be right, chicken thighs are hard to find in the stores. Why is
that? I thought most of the world preferred every other part of the chicken
including wings. I see legs, where are the thighs going? Are people buying
them now because it’s the cut with the most meat for the money?

Oddly, the store I stopped at today had Halal boneless skinless chicken thighs.
I don’t think I’ve ever bought halal meat or even seen it except in specialty
halal stores. Is some Muslim family going hungry because I bought their halal
chicken?

The other thing I noticed was they had a TON of bacon. I’ve never seen so much
bacon. Many brands and types. Maybe big pork processors in various states are
closing down due to Covid, but that doesn’t seem to be offsetting the bacon
that isn’t being sold to restaurants, which is apparently where most bacon is
normally consumed.

Bacon, bacon, bacon.

LTE backup is probably cheaper.  We offer that as a solution to our
clients at least for internet connectivity loss.

Or have your VoIP switch in the cloud and have it forward if your
devices are offline due to data related problems to cell phones.

We only use PRI's in exchanges that are impossible to port out of.

Is it integrated enough to switch over to backup without interrupting

PRI is on it will switch to the other side seamlessly.

I can vouch for Lifeline quality and reliability.

It's hard to comment on the Tycon batteries without knowing who actually
makes them, have you looked under the Tycon label? Even so, they might not
use the same source today. They might be excellent batteries, but I doubt
Tycon is the actual manufacturer.

Re: [AFMUG] SCADA porn

2020-04-18 Thread Jaime Solorza
After we get drawings and make sure all the parts are in stock, we lay out
back panel...we layout as much of the components on it as possible to
determine positioning...DC vs AC is decided first. One we have rough idea,
we use pencil marks to start measurements for Din rail...one guy cuts the
rail as another one starts to drill holes for screws..once Din rail in
place we clean panel of cutting oil, drill debris and pencil marks...two
guys start attaching components and terminal blocks as per drawings...the
other guy is printing plastic labels for terminal blocks...once relays
,fuses, jumpers and PLC parts are installed, we install power supplies, UPS
, battery and AC outlets.
Then we start wiring AC power side...use deadman plug to test.
Then we start wiring longest runs first while adding labels ... wiring
takes the longest...after all wiring is complete, we test each run for
continuity and Meg them... every run result is recorded...then we run DC
power where needed...once everything wired and powered, we connect a laptop
to PLC and our engineer runs stimulations throughout every circuit...
NO/NC/Timers etc...if everything passes, we disconnect fuse for batteries.
Clean everything and wrapped fully loaded back panel.
At site, our crew installs into enclosures... we don't let electricians do
it...too much risk ..
Once in, we start landing wires from equipment along with labeling and
testing.
It's a 5 man shop but three on panel is most efficient.

It would seem that launching a new satellite into the proper location would
cost about the same. Maybe it is cheap and cheap to launch.
They can use it for other things and it is nice that it can park it in the
junkyard when it is done.

the tomato sauce ...also authentic enchiladas don't have ground beef or
