Report segmentation by week - changing definition of "week"

2014-08-12 Thread Adrian Pell
I've recently started needing weekly segmentation of some reports that I
fetch through the API. All pretty straightforward to do ... except I'm not
totally clear what defines a week, or whether it's possible to change that
definition.

In some other (much) earlier topics here, it seems that the definition is
(was?) Sun-Sat - but currently when I request the report, the date in the
"Week" column is a Monday - and the data seems to line up with that
indicating the first day of the week (so a Mon-Sun week).

So ...

   - What is the default definition for a week as segmented in a report?
   - Is it possible to change that (I guess I'm only really interested in
   Sun-Sat or Mon-Sun)?

Thanks

Adrian

Oh ... and I'm using the .NET API with the v201406 version in case that
matters ...

Re: Report segmentation by week - changing definition of "week"

2014-08-13 Thread Adrian Pell
Hello Josh

Thanks for the update. That's what I'd figured ... although it would be
nice to be able to specify that. When I'm aggregating data across multiple
services - some of which use a Sun-Sat week - it's helpful if at least one
service is flexible :-)

Since I'd really still like to get data in a single request, I think I'll
try aggregating on a daily basis - then I can make up whatever definition
of week I like!

Adrian

Problems setting up test account

2013-05-15 Thread Adrian Pell
I'm trying to set up a test account to start working with the API prior to
API approval ... but I'm having trouble getting the final step done.

I've done everything I think I need to do: create a new client in the MCC,
authorize a new account to have access to that client - including all of
the steps through to final verification by both authorizer and new
account. However ...

When I try to sign in to Adwords with the new account ... I get right back
to the "Create Google Account" page ... but there's a red warning message
at the bottom - "The Google Account xxx@x already has access to an
AdWords account linked to an MCC (Customer ID: aaa-bbb-). And then
there's a sign-in box ... which, if I enter my password, loops right back
:-)

The curious thing is that is the correct customer ID, and the correct
email, and looking in the MCC at the account access for this client - it
shows my account as fully approved with administrative access.

Help! Why am I getting blocked trying to sign in ... quite confusing!

Thanks

Adrian

ConvertedClicks not returned when segmenting by conversion name

2015-11-30 Thread Adrian Pell
For some reports (campaign and ad group at least), we segment by conversion
name. In the past, we have been able to request both Conversions and
ConvertedClicks in these segment reports - but recently we have noticed
that we're only getting Conversions back in the report - ConvertedClicks
comes back as "---".

We recently upgraded from v201502 to v201509 - including the change in
definition of Conversions. I'm pretty sure that in the previous version,
we were getting ConvertedClicks (by its previous name) returned
successfully.

I understand that non-conversion stats can't be returned with a
ConversionName segment - but ConvertedClicks sounds like a conversion stat
(and the docs don't show it as excluded) - and we don't get an error, just
an absence of data ...

Any idea what happened here?

Thanks

Adrian

Re: ConvertedClicks not returned when segmenting by conversion name

2015-12-01 Thread Adrian Pell
Very strange - must have been some transient problem as I'm unable to
reproduce that this morning. The UI still doesn't show Converted Clicks
when segmenting by Conversion Name, but the API returns it ok today.

Custom report timing out

2016-02-11 Thread Adrian Pell
I have a strange case where one report that we request through the API
never returns a response. That is, no matter how long we leave it, there
is never a response to the HTTP POST containing the report spec.

Looking at some earlier discussion, there was talk about timeouts - which
indicated that these should not be necessary since we should either get the
requested data, or an Adwords error to which we can respond in some
appropriate way (reduce scope, segments, etc.) I get neither.

The report in question is a Geo Performance Report, segmented by Campaign,
Month, City ... which is probably quite large, but I would still expect a
response. We have some other pretty large reports with similar specs
(although for different accounts) which succeed.

Any ideas what might be going on? I'm quite happy to split the report up
further ... but I don't want to do that unless necessary, since every other
similar report succeeds.

BTW - setting a Timeout in the .NET API (the default is indefinite) causes
a different problem which I've logged an issue for in Github.

Thanks

Adrian

BTW - I'm using the latest 18.22.0 version of the .NET API although still
with the v201509 version of the protocol.
