Re: db migration, are accents now ignored for spanish terms

2010-09-24 Thread bramiozo
Thanks Eric, did they tell you why because accented terms in French,
Portuguese, Spanish ARE searched.

This behavior applies to what roman character languages exactly and/or
to what accents ? For instance German seems to be ok with the umlaut
(ü,ö etc.)
but ç with French is ignored, how did they decide what accents to
include and what not ?
Does the development team expect foreign advertisers to ignore accents
and misspell their content (I assume not) or is it a catch-all
solution where
accented and non-accented results are added ?

This means that accented terms for these particular languages/accents
are ignored also in the SERP's ?

I think it undermines the fidelity of the results since it is unknown
to what extent the results come from the accented terms and to what
extent
it comes from the non-accented terms, furthermore the accents are
ignored with the advent of idn's where exact searches on accented
terms might
be relevant for indexing.

Sorry but it does raise some questions :) .

Re: db migration, are accents now ignored for spanish terms

2010-09-24 Thread Zap
The old keyword tool was supposed to have been shut down last month,
but it is still running. For how long?

Please keep it running forever... But, does it still get feed with
updated data?

Why this move? You really wanted to avoid people using the tool to
search for unique keywords stats didn't you?

That's what the paid Adwords API is for, right? ;)

Duplicate Element

2010-09-24 Thread Syed
Hi,

I was trying to add Campaign. When i do that am getting this
following error. I used the same code some times back(one or two weeks
back), it works fine. I have made no changes to the code.

But still am getting this error.

This exception occurs when i try to save the changes made to existing
campaign.

 [DistinctError.DUPLICATE_ELEMENT @ operations[3].operand.targets[2]]

Can you please tell me what does this error exactly means.

Urgent please

Thanks

Search volumes and keyword suggestions for localized targeting is broken?

2010-09-24 Thread Martin
Hi!

We use the Google Adwords API 8.1 for java , but it's rather
irrelevant, we have noticed that also the online keyword tool (https://
adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) has the flaws we intend
to address.

Here is a summary:
When using local targeting Sweden/Swedish
1. There are no or very low search volumes for most keywords
(including big words like "iphone" and "fifa").
2. There is no or very little relevance of the keywords suggestions
for most of the big words.

Is something broken?

We know there has been work on the backend, but this must be a bigger
issue, right?

How does one setup Adwords Campaign Experiments/ACE via API?

2010-09-24 Thread schismatosis
The example code for the ruby gem says

# This example creates an experiment using a query percentage of 10,
which
# defines what fraction of auctions should go to the control split
(90%) vs.
# the experiment split (10%), then adds experimental bid changes for
criteria
# and ad groups.

However if you look at the code it's pretty clear that the second half
of this (then adds experimental crtieria) is not done in the
example; all the code does is create an experiment and does nothing to
populate it.

Searching the rest of the docs was pretty fruitless for me as well,
though perhaps I am looking in the wrong place?

I checked out the python code as well just in case it was only the ruby
examples that were missing substantive chunks but apparently there is
no sample code at all for the 201008 services yet for python.

Retrieving the CustomerSyncService

2010-09-24 Thread schismatosis
There is no example code for this at all in the ruby gem. Guessing at
the standard nomenclature to retrieve the service, I tried

@customer_sync_srv = @adwords.get_service('CustomerSync', API_VERSION)

AdWords::Error::Error: Version 201008 does not contain service
Customer_Sync

but that gives the error above. 'Customer_Sync' didn't work either.

Re: Procedure for switching to production environment?

2010-09-24 Thread AdWords API Advisor
Hi,

For switching to the production environment, you also need to set

email = your production mcc email,
password = your production mcc password,
clientEmail = your production adwords account loginEmail.

Looks like your client email is still holding values for the sandbox
environment (i.e. client_1+...).

Hi Dave,

You can retrieve the child accounts using AccountService, see

Hi Anash,

Thanks for the clarification. I have made the fix and am now getting a
new error: QuotaCheckError.INVALID_TOKEN_HEADER @ ; trigger:

Here is what I did:

1. Modified the example code so I connect to the production service
2. run config.py and entered the following:

Your AdWords account's login email: my_em...@gmail.com
Login password:
Login client email: my_em...@gmail.com
Login client customer id:[]
User agent: AwApi-Python-12.1.0|GoogleTest
Developer token : XX (used token listed on my adwords account
page. listed as 'approved'. billing information is valid)
Select SOAP library [1=SOAPpy, 2=ZSI]: 2
Select XML parser [1=PyXML, 2=ElementTree]: 1
Enable debugging mode [y/n]: y
Enable SOAP XML logging mode [y/n]: y
Enable API request logging mode [y/n]: y

3. execute the example code at the command line.

This was the log output:

Hi Anash,

Thanks for the clarification. I have made the fix and am now getting a
new error: QuotaCheckError.INVALID_TOKEN_HEADER @ ; trigger:;
'developer_token'
Here is what I did:

1. Modified the code so I connect to the production service
2. run config.py and entered the following:

Your AdWords account's login email: my_em...@gmail.com
Login password:
Login client email: my_em...@gmail.com
Login client customer id: []
User agent: AwApi-Python-12.1.0|GoogleTest

Re: How to populate the sandbox

2010-09-24 Thread AdWords API Advisor
Hi Federico,

There is no automatic way to populate data in the sandbox, you will
need to write your own script to do this.

Re: ReportDefinition

2010-09-24 Thread ewan
I think these are actually available by specifying the
ConversionTypeName & ConversionCategoryName fields although I don't
think they're showing up when getReportFields is run yet. These
fields can't be combined with front end data so you can't include
columns like Impressions and Clicks etc in the same report.

Regards,

Ewan

Re: ReportDefinition

2010-09-24 Thread Reed
I gave it a try and added those two fields and removed the clicks/cost/
impressions/avg pos, and the report definition ran without error. But
when I pull the XML report file (I tried this for a couple of
different clients for dates that I know for sure they have conversion
data) all I have is the header portion that lists the fields - there
are no data rows. Here are a couple of sample report IDs: 417644,
2320907

Can you help me understand what the report data will look like? Will
there be an individual row for each keyword /conversion combination
that has non-zero data for the date range specified? In V13 there was
a single row with all of the requested conversion fields, as well as
the cost/clicks/impressions - Am I to understand that that data model
has been replaced with a more flattened one? Seems like a lot more
work on both of our ends to create such a file and process it.

thanks,
-reed
