Re: server free available in TSM for AIX yet? solved
The reason why we need to backup to disk is because of backup concurrency. Unlike tape drives that are limited to number of mounts. What are the license requirements of that setup from ESS to LTO tape. Did you use TDP for Hardware? Did you require any data mover device? inotzki Joshua Bassi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: This setup is at one of my customer accounts. Server free in this case is going directly to LTO tape. To backup server less to disk, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, would be to use Tivoli Sanergy. Typically I have seen LAN-free go to a disk pool, but not using server less. -- Joshua S. All, We are to do LAN free to disk and tape now. Has anybody has or knows of a working setup of: 1. SANERGY MDC on AIX 5.1/AIX 4.3.3 2. SANERGY Client on AIX 4.3.3 3. SANERGY Client on Solaris 8/9 4. TSM TCP port
Hi TSMers, Anybody knows if TSM client to any port other than 1500. Re: TSM TCP port
It is fine now. I just found out that you need to hardcode the port number on the dsmserv.opt and not just on the set it on the server status. Thanks Richard Sims <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >Anybody knows if TSM client to any port other than 1500. >I'm having problems connecting with other ports 1502, etc. >I've setup the server TCP port to 1502 and my client TCP port to 1502. ... >ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure A vital piece of information may be in your server Activity Log regarding the session attempt. I would use 'netstat', 'lsof', or like commands on the server system to verify that the port number you believe that the server is to respond to is actually active in it. Change of Policy
Hi guys, I am still fairly new to TSM and needs all the help I can get. I need to change the incremental policy of a certain domain. I have 7 versions of backups set on my current policy and are kept for 30 days. If I change that policy to 90 days, will all my 7 backups be retained or does the change only affect the new incrementals? Are my old backup versions bound to my old policy? SANERGY vs File Drives - Lan free to disk
HI TSMers, On a LAN free setup (pure AIX, SAN), is there a big difference between using FILE device class drives vs using SANergy? What does SANergy really do? I have tested FILE drives and it sits on NFS. I also know that it is Sequential just like the tapes and needs more Drives to support multiple node concurrently backing up. I guess what I'm looking for is something like Disk device class. Can SANergy support the Disk Device class or is it also Sequential File Devices. What's the difference? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. inotzki TSM System Administrator - Do you Yahoo!? Free online calendar with sync to Outlook(TM).
Server Free requirements.
Need help. Server-free, what are the software license requirements? My environment - I have a SAN with fibre channel HBAs, IBM ESS, 3494 library attached. 2109 fibre switches. TSM server on AIX. TSM clients on AIX. Solaris clients on AIX. I want to do server free backup to SAN attached disk and tape. Is it possible to do Server free backup to disk. Is it File device class or Disk device class? I know this is not IBM hardware support support, but does anybody know if 2109 can function as the SAN datagateway datamover for TSM?
