Re: AS400 Performance problems
Hi Reiner, Is the 600kb trn rate the highest historically you have been able to achieve or, has it ever run at a higher rate. Also what is your storage pool going to disk or tape. Re: Antw: Re: AS400 Performance problems
Hi Reiner: Thanks for the info on your transfer rate needs. The reason I asked whether you were going to disk or tape is because the latest enhancment to AS/400 performance mentioned in the TSM admin. guide points to the ability to use AS/400 root file system. Here are the steps to convert from document #79919 I downloaded from www.Tivoli.com, ask Tivoli (Tivoli's KB): TSD solution 79919 - TSM Server: What is process for converting database, log, and storage pool volumes to use AS/400 root file system? Be sure to activate this solution in TSD if you find it to solve your problem! Solution Desc: What is process for converting database, log, and storage pool volumes to use AS/400 root file system? Solution: Use the following steps to migrate the server's database volumes: 1. Install and run a server using DB volumes in the library file system 2. Format a volume in the new file system (size should equal existing DB volume) 3. Use the "DEFINE DBVOLUME" command to add this new volume to the database 4. Use "DELETE DBVOLUME" to remove original volume from database 5. Validate that new DB volume is working properly NOTE: Do the above process on the server's LOG volumes Use the following steps to migrate the server's DISK Storage pool volumes: 1. Install and run a server using DISK Storage Pool volumes in the library file system 2. Format a volume in the new file system (size should equal existing storage pool volume) 3. Use "DEFINE VOLUME" command to add new volume to DISK storage pool 4. Use "UPDATE VOLUME" command to mark original volume "READONLY" 5. Use "MOVE DATA" command to move data from original volume to storage pool 6. Use "AUDIT VOLUME" command to validate the new storage pool volume 7. Use "DELETE VOLUME" command to remove original volume from storage pool Sam Giallanza >From: Reiner Sauer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: "ADSM: Dist Stor Manager" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Antw: Re: AS400 Performance problems >Date: Fri, 8 Dec 2000 09:32:36 +0100 > >It's similar to the TR interface rate. Re: Possible reasons for "Missed" backups?
There are a number of reasons, data could be corrupt in some way, etc. Query event is a good place to start, but try using the schedlog to zero in on ANSS error messages. These will be useful in determining the problem with the incomplete backup. >From: Joe Faracchio <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: "ADSM: Dist Stor Manager" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Re: Possible reasons for "Missed" backups? >Date: Sat, 19 Aug 2000 09:11:47 -0700 > >missed can also indicate a password problem. > >... joe.f. > >Joseph A Faracchio, Systems Programmer, UC Berkeley > > >On Thu, 17 Aug 2000, Daniel Swan/TM wrote: > > > Using the QUERY EVENT command, I see a list of completed, missed, and >failed > > backups. > > > > I assume that the 'missed' are due to a defunct/inactive client >scheduler, > > or a loss of connectivity to the host. > > > > Are there other possible reasons, perhaps scheduling oriented or >otherwise, > > to explain why a client is 'missed'? > > _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Re: NT client 3.7.2.0 installation
Eric, The message "Severe: The service >cannot be installed due to an unknown error". sounds bad. I can go to Tivoli.com and use the knowledge base to look that message up. My gut instinct says to check what is "running" at the time of install. Microsoft will tell you that 3rd party programs running may interfere with installations, that is what I bet is occuring. 1) did you uninstall Antivirus like Norton or Dr Solomon. 2) any other 3rd party apps that monitor, besides Dr. Watson.
