TSM Client Passwords after TSM V6 upgrade

2010-09-03 Thread BrentFortune
I'm planning to upgrade a TSM Server V5.5.3 to TSM V6.1 on an AIX platform
using the New System Network Method. Does anyone know if the TSM client
passwords would need to be updated?

TSM V6.1.4.1 ANR0299I A full database backup will be started

2010-09-28 Thread BrentFortune
I've just upgraded an AIX TSM V5.5 Server to TSM V6.1.4.1, everything seems to
be working well except for the message: "ANR0299I A full database backup will
be started. The archive log space used is 80 % and the archive log space used
threshold is 99 percent."

Has anyone seen this before?

2010-10-13 Thread BrentFortune
Hi All, i'm planning to upgrade a TSM V5.5 Server with 2 instances of TSM to
TSM V6.1. Does anyone know if there are any limitations in running 2 TSM V6.1
instances on the same machine? I ask this due to the fact taht in DB2 the TSM
DB name is always TSMDB1.

2010-10-14 Thread BrentFortune
Hi thanks for the response,

Hana, cannot upgrade to 6.1 because the customer has some clients on
unsupported versions.

Gregory, i've done 2 upgrades before on AIX and there were lessons learned, so
am better prepared this time Thanks!

Anyone have any pointers to why Windows 2008 for TSM Server would be better
than using Linux or the other way around?

Cluster backup for SQL 2008 on Win 2008R2 Server, TDP forSQL

2011-02-17 Thread BrentFortune
I've configured a SQL backup in a clustered environment using TDP for SQL
V5.5.3. Everything seems fine until the schedule kicks off, it goes into a
pending state then fails wih RC1. Anyone now if there's any difference in this
setup compared to previous SQL versions on Win 2003Servers?

SQL restore to a different machine

2012-05-22 Thread BrentFortune
I would like to backup a SQL database on one machine then restore it to amother
machine.

The source server is Windows 2003 32-bit, SQL 2005, SQL TDP V5.5.1.0, Baclient
V5.5.1.0
Te destination server is Windows 2008 64-bit, SQL 2008, SQL TDP V5.5.5.0,
Baclient V6.2.2.0

Does anyone know if this is possible, if not, how can i plan for getting the
SQL 2005 databases to the SQL 2008 server.

Regards
Brent

Strange errors from MSSQL/TDP backups

2013-09-05 Thread BrentFortune
I am getting this error message when backing up the SQL dump files using the
baclient.
We specify the location of the dump files in the dsm.opt file yet the error
message relates to the actual database file in a different location.
Why would it try to backup the database .mdf file in a different location?
TSM client V6.2.2

Filesystem Backup ERROR ANS1688I

2013-09-05 Thread BrentFortune
Thanks Del

This was my include: F:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup\*\*.*

I have since changed it to: F:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup\*\*.bak

I will also add the exclude .mdf and .ldf

Why would it try to backup the actual SQL database file though, which is in:
F:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Data\

Regards
Brent
