TSM for Virtual Environments - Reporting

2012-09-28 Thread Shawn Drew
Quick question, may be a long answer.
How is everyone reporting on success/failures for Full VM backups using
TSM for VE. My reports are grabbing lines from the actlog and it is
uugly.

damages file system primary volumes at dr replicated site

2012-09-28 Thread Tim Brown
ANR1044I Removable volume D:\WIN2K_PRIM1\0A98.BFS is required for space

reclamation.

ANR1162W Space reclamation skipping damaged file on volume

D:\WIN2K_PRIM1\0A98.BFS: Node PERU, Type Backup, File space \\peru\c$, File

name \PROGRAM FILES (X86)\COMMON FILES\MCAFEE\ENGINE\MFERUNTIME201209131453488-

72.DAT.

Seeing these on occasion at DR site which is TSM replicated. Audit doesn't fix
it. We delete the volume

and rerun the replication.

Is anyone else seeing this, servers are Windows 64 Enterprise TSM 6.3.1.15

Re: ANR1534I and DEDUPREQUIRESBACKUP ?

2012-09-28 Thread Paul Zarnowski
Wanda,
I understand your dilemma. We are working on deploying dedup now, and are
trying to figure this out too. Like you, we want to have fast and slow pools,
but we want a safety valve in case the fast pool fills up. We haven't figured
out how to do this, short of allocating extra space to try to ensure that a
safety valve is never needed.

Let us know if you figure something out!

Shawn,

Are you seeing these messages?

ANE4146I Starting Full VM backup of Virtual Machine 'vmname'
ANE4147I Successful Full VM backup of Virtual Machine 'vmname'
ANE4148E Full VM backup of Virtual Machine 'vmname' failed with RC rc

Do they have session/process numbers?

There are a host of other VM related messages that should help describe the
status...

Re: TSM for Virtual Environments - Reporting

2012-09-28 Thread Shawn Drew
Understood. I'm looking for more of a "q event" type output. Maybe from
a third party reporting system. Maybe even the IBM reporting and
monitoring if anyone can suggest something. Just a one-liner, vm name,
success, fail, date, etc.

Shawn
