Re: Admin Center Issues

2012-06-23 Thread Mehdi Salehi
Similar experience with Admin Center 6.3, but this time in "manage servers"
section nothing is listed under the "select action" menu. I played with the
GUI and clicked on other links in the portal with no hope then the
drop-down menu appeared! Although I have added TSM servers, when I come
back to the portal again, sometimes the menu is hesitant to appear!

Good equivalent of standard dsmadmc console are TSMExplorer Console or
TSM Console Manager.

Netapp share on a windows box and journaling

2012-06-23 Thread Geoff Gill
I was wondering if some old notes I have from a couple of years ago are still
good, or maybe even incorrect or out of date. I was investigating a couple of
shares that were coming from a netapp unit to a Windows client that someone
wanted backed up. My notes indicated at the time in order to get them backed up
we added a line DOMAIN \\xx.xx.xx.xx\sharename and that worked. Even though
they showed up as a drive letter adding DOMAIN F: did not seem to work but
perhaps it was just a permission thing and/or something else and I'm not
recalling correctly.

My other recollection was that you could not journal these drives but maybe I'm
not recalling this correctly either.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thank You

SAP BR Offline backup is very slow

2012-06-23 Thread Saravanan Palanisamy
Dear Team,

I am facing very strange issue in my environment and i would desperatly
looking for some help.

We have recently applied below AIX patch on SAP servers and it cause the BR
Offline backup to pretty slow.

Vulnerability in LDAP Authentication
JRE hangs when converting Java
Multiple vulnerabilities in AIX BIND
Sudo format string vulnerability
Vulnerability in ICMP packet handling
TCP network packet denial of service

AIX: 6100-06-05-1115
TSM server : 5.5.6.1
Storage Agent Version: 5.5.6.0
TDP for R3 : 5.5.0.0
TSM BA Client : 5.5.3.4

BR Online backup running fine( both LAN and LAN-Free backup)
BR Offline backup running fine only in LAN based backup but in LAN-Free
backup it's very slow.
While BR Offline backup runs, i have tested some file level backup over the
storage agent and backup throughput was really good.( Transfered 22 GB of
data and it took only 4 min)

We have applied the AIX patches on 4 servers( 3 SAP Oracle, 1 Oracle) and
all the four servers the BR Offline backups are running very slowly. I have
raised the PMR but they are not ready to help at this moment( due to
performance issue)

Here is the one piece transfer speed.

Re: Admin Center Issues

2012-06-23 Thread Prather, Wanda
The problem here is that you are getting inappropriate response from IBM Tech
Support. No open PMR should drag on for months.

There is no reason it should not function on Win2008 R2, I've got it running on
2 customers on Win2008 R2.
Any time you have a problem that goes on and on and gets no resolution from IBM
Tech Support, go through the escalation process (which everyone is entitled to
use):
a) call Tech support with your current PMR number
b) ask for the duty manager
c) explain that you are not getting timely response and ask to raise the
priority of the PMR
d) rinse and repeat until you get to Sev 1 if you have to (you shouldn't have
to, but it's been known to happen).
e) also, if you are still at support level 1, tell the duty manager to send you
to level2, then to level3 if you don't get appropriate response.

You should have an IBM Tivoli rep (probably from the education division, which
will make it harder to apply pressure. But you should still be able to find
your rep.) Tell them what is going on.
If you STILL don't get appropriate response from Tech Support, they can open a
"crit sit", which will result in weekly (if not daily) concalls with Tech
Support and marketing and you until it gets resolved. If it gets to this
level, you will have more IBM'ers in your lap than you can find time to talk to.

I am the first to say that NONE of this should be necessary. But sometimes you
have to do the pushing from your end to get it resolved. Raise hell and you
will get results.

All that being said, the AC is very very VERY sensitive to the browser you are
using. It is technically supported only on IE7/8 and Firefox 3.5/3.6. Do
yourself a favor and download a copy of Firefox 3.6 and try it.
