TSM 6 and iSCSI

2012-03-27 Thread Christian Svensson
 Hi,
I just wonder if anyone can share their knowledge about your experiences of TSM
based on Windows/Linux using iSCSI storage for Seq Disk pool.
Did you use iSCSI also for DB/Active Log?

What server hardware did you use?
IBM/Dell/HP/Fujitsu?

What disk hardware did you use?
IBM/Dell/HP/Fujitsu?

What network connection did you use?
1Gbps? 10Gbps? InfiniBand?

Did you use TSM Deduplication?

Any shared information are welcome.

Best Regards

Login to the server where TSM is installed and open the Tivoli Management
Console.

Right click on Tivoli Storage Manager, choose Properties.

That should give you tabs with Operational Reports, Operational Monitors,
Report Service, Email Account, and Summary Info.

Click the Email Account tab.

Set the IP of your new email server.

All,

We are changing our exchange environment over to 2010 and notice that the
reports that are sent out are being sent through our old Exchange environment.
I looked in the TSM Management Console, and don't see where I could set the
exchange server. Just email address to send to. Does anyone know where to
change the exchange server that the email is being sent to?

Re: TSM 6 and iSCSI

2012-03-27 Thread Dean Landry
Hi,

Answers are below, but I've had no issues at all with our iSCSI solution with
TSM, or any other server for that matter. We currently run TSM 6.2.2 on
Windows, but non-TSM OS's such as Linux and BSD have had no issues either.

We actually use Veeam backup and replication for Vmware, and I've scripted the
jobs to kick off respective TSM backups for DR. That product heavily relies on
compression and deduplication and its backup pool is sitting on a raw mapped
iSCSI disk.

We have over 160TB of iSCSI SAN and the only thing still using fiber is a
legacy IBM DS4700 stack.

If you are interested in more info feel free to reach out.

Dean.

Re: TSM for VE - 2 TSM servers, 1 plugin

2012-03-27 Thread Amos TSM
Hi Stephen,
Im using also TDP Ve, and I installed plugin per VC,
Each plugin is installed on a separate guest with vmclient ,
But all of them are working with the same Datamover,
Thus when I open my VC I can see all the plugins
Most important it's that all od the machine will be in the DNS, or it can
resolve them with
Local host file

The VMs are in the same VMware datacenter, but the they are split across a
WAN link. I make no claims about the wisdom of this as far as VMware goes,
and can't change it at any rate. But that's the situation I'm stuck with.

Now, even if they *were* in 2 VMware datacenters, would you then have 2
plugins appearing in vCenter? (Damn, I wish I could remember which letter
was which case...) I can see in the configuration that there's a possibility
of entering multiple datacenters, but still there's only one TSM server,
right? Is that a limitation for now?

How are your VMs arranged at the datacenter level? Are you splitting the VMs
across TSM servers when they are in the same datacenter? If you look at the
graphic in the documentation you basically have datacenters associated with
one plug-in and it is associated with one TSM server.

Reloading the FF browser page (F5) typically resolves that problem and
handles the navigation.

In response to Harold's email, the APAR that describes the extraneous
services with TSM AC 6.3.0 is here:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?crawler=1&uid=swg1IC80444

I've confirmed that it is resolved in AC 6.3.1.

The problems I've experienced in Chrome and Firefox are:
- Nodes and tabs not displayed correctly on Client Nodes and Backup Sets
page
- Server Properties links on Manage Servers page give the following
errors:
Error 500: SRVE0295E: Error reported: 500
