Re: Backing up SQL snapshot files

2011-12-02 Thread Lee, Gary D.
Every time I have encountered this it is a security issue. The system account
(default for tsm backup), does not have access rights to the sql backup file it
is attempting to back up.

Subject: [ADSM-L] Backing up SQL snapshot files

Hello,

Looking to see if anyone has run across file access issues while getting
backups of SQL snapshot files (*.ss) with TSM.

The posted error:
Sparse attributes for 'D:\SQL_Snapshot\...\...*.ss' cannot be backed up
correctly because the volume from which the file is backed up does not support
sparse files.

The IBM APAR #IC74758 indicates that it is a file access issue, since the
sparse file resides on a volume that supports sparse files.

I am new to TSM, so any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon Stryker

Hi,

I want to disable VM backups on a VCB proxy server I have re-created the
dsm.opt to what is was originally was and deleted the " VM Client node
automated schedule" . Is there a way to get rid of the preferences editor "VM
Backup" selections/entries in the GUI?

Hello,

How to take EMC centera backup? One way of doing it through additional EMC
Module CBRM with TSM. But CBRM was end of life product,

Pl suggest any alternate way of doing Centera backup on TSM-TAPE without CBRM.?

Sachin C.

NDMP might be an option. Hopefully, you are running TSM 6.2
