DB backup on 6.2.2 server - Error in vendor support code at line: 377 rc: 610

2011-02-10 Thread Zoltan Forray/AC/VCU
More fun adventures with DB2

Trying to run the first DB backup on a new 6.2.2.0 server that has been
running fine, so far. This is an offsite psuedo-DR server that stores
DBSNAPSHOT backups from our other production servers.

Considering it only holds 20-objects, I wasn't in any hurry to perform DB
backups. Now, I got some strange message about the DB being >80% full
(not sure why since the filespace for the DB has over 90GB free and the DB
is only using 90GB) and I realized I needed to run DB backups to clear the
logs and such.

No matter what I try, I get:

2/10/2011 11:54:22 AM ANR2968E Database backup terminated. DB2 sqlcode:
-2033. DB2 sqlerrmc: 610 .

Looking through /home/tsminst1/sqllib/db2dump/db2diag.log, I see all kinds
of interesting messages:

Error in vendor support code at line: 377 rc: 610 (I thought this
was interesting considering IBM IS the vendor in both cases)

Media controller -- Generic error (not much help here - I tried the
backup to both a local SAN FILEDEVCLASS and to another TSM server)

SQL2033N An error occurred while accessing TSM during the processing of a
database utility. TSM reason code: "". (when, I guess it got the "610"
reason code from the "vendor error" message)

Your thoughts, suggestions?

The only discussion I found via Google that was close was from Andy and a
Windows server config issue but it didn't seem to relate (these are Linux
servers)

Tdp for lotus 5.4.2

2011-02-10 Thread Ochs, Duane
Good day everyone,
I've inherited some retired lotus system backups and a restore has been
requested.
All Lotus servers have been removed from the network.
I launch the TDP software and select the nsf file to restore.
When I select restore I get the following error.

ACD5405E There is no server name in the Lotus Domino Server id file.

Is there a way to get this completed ?
Thanks,
Duane

Admin Center upgrade 5.4 > 5.5

2011-02-10 Thread Rick Adamson
While ultimately my goal is to be at 6.2, I currently need to upgrade my
TSM world from 5.4 to 5.5. All the TSM servers have been upgraded and
are running fine, but now I must upgrade the Admin Center. I've searched
the doco several times as well the archives and I see nothing there in
reference to a process to do this upgrade and maintain the existing
configuration.

We have a test server that is primarily used for DR so I decided to give
it a try there first. Ran the ISC ver 6.0.1.1 package and it found the
6.0.1 install and upgraded it. Then uninstalled the 5.4 AC and installed
the 5.5 version. When I log on it looks like a new install, no servers
defined, no config, etc.

Where did I go wrong and does anyone know of a way to perform the
upgrade and preserve the current configuration, or export/import it?

All feedback appreciated. Thanks.

You do need Domino to use TDP. That is one of the listed requirements.

I seem to remember that you could get away with a partial install of
Domino to supply some libraries.
You will need to install the Domino software in order to continue, but I
don't remember what minimum configuration you can get away with.

Shawn

Thank you so much. That also jarred my memory that I had fought this
issue, before.

I have no idea why Googling (lots of combinations) did not find that.

Actually, if you have a running Domino server, you can get away with doing
a restore without using the TDP.

We twilighted our student Solaris servers (moved to Gmail). While I did
full, TDP based backups before the server was shut down, I also did
flat-file backups of the NSF files/whole servers.

Our Domino/Notes admin has successfully restored the flat files,
defined/connected them to a test Domino server and then restarted the
Domino instance. Then the restored database/mailbox was available for
extraction of the contents. I don't know where it goes from there since I
only handle the TSM/TDP side of the equation.

Re: Copypool storage question

2011-02-10 Thread Paul_Dudley
We use LTO4 tapes for the primary tape storage pools and LTO3 tapes for the
copy pool.
I was trying to see if there was a way to free up more LTO3 tapes for scratch
tapes.
Looks like we will just have to buy more LTO3 tapes.

Thanks & Regards
Paul

Re: Copypool storage question

2011-02-10 Thread Steven Harris

Well that one is easy. Ask 'em to buy more tapes or to list what they
don't want to back up. :)
make sure that when you buy disk you cost tape to back it up to.

TAANSTAFL... there ain't no such thing as a free lunch

Short answer no. Its all or nothing with copy pools. You can keep just
the last version of each file with an active pool, but you should have a
copy pool as well just in case your primary pool goes bad. You could
send the active pool offsite and keep the copy pool onsite. What are
you trying to save on?

Steve.

the overnight incremental backups into this storage pool are copied into the
copypool and then these tapes are sent offsite. Is there anyway to setup the
copypool so that it only has the last 2 versions of each file instead of 5
versions?
