The pic ports are not up to the standard of the other ports. They
therefore are marked as "in development" or "experimental" on the
website, in the documentation, etc.
For a long time, there was no point trying to do regression testing for
them, since nearly everything tests would fail anyway. Over time, the
pic16 port has improved to the point, where it could be included (with
lots of tests diabled for now though, but it would still be far better
than nothing), but no one got around to putting the pic16 stuff in the
automatic regression testing infrastructure yet.
One can still manually run the regression tests for pic16 ("make
test-pic16" in sdcc/support/regression). You can even try to run them
manually for pic14 ("make test-pic16" in sdcc/support/regression), but
that results in a compiler crash on the very first test.
