Dear users of the z80, z180, r2k, r3ka and gbz80 port, dear developers
of sdcc,

even though for typical code, current sdcc generates better code than
any other compiler targeting any of the z80-related architectures,
there is still potential for further optimization. In the smallopts
branch, I implemented many small improvements, mostly in code
generation. Combined, they give a substancial improvement in code size
and speed.

AFAIK there are no regression failures in the smallopts branch.

If you want to try it, you can obtain it using
svn co
https://sdcc.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/sdcc/branches/smallopts/sdcc
sdcc-so
In case you notice any bugs or regressions in code size compared to
the release candidates, please report them.

My current plan is to merge the smallopts branch sometime next week,
after the 3.2.0 release.
