Hi, first of all, thanks for the answer. Second: I don't have the pickit
programmers, nor the more expensive ones from MPLAB. I've a velleman
k8048. The profilic doesn't freeze, I can use the programmer with it
very stable.
Also, I don't have Windows (you know why), but will MPLABX do the job?
I've that installed...

You mean I send the pic 5V? I do, should I do something with the MCLR?
Because I can do a "hello LED" (parody on hello world) without problems.
I don't use an X-tal/oscillator.
I've an old osciloscope, I hope it still works, what should I measure
and what wave should I get?

Hi Ruben,

are you sure that Profilic adapter does not freeze? Do you have oscilloscope or 
logic analyzer to look at RxD on PIC? I assume that you properly blocked all 
power pins and RESET on PIC.

16F887 has ICD so I would try to run debugger using MPLAB and ASM code from 
SDCC.
