It looks like I was able to compile the source code for this successfully on a Fedora 13, x86_64 system which already has the Fedora sdcc package installed. I did this on an older Dell Latitude E6400 notebook with 4 Gb memory and the compile took a very long time to complete -- I didn't time it but I would say it went on well over an hour.
I haven't tried to do a 'make install'. I may do this on the beta version of Fedora 14, but attempt to package it as an rpm and install it from the rpm. Hopefully we will see this version of sdcc as an official Fedora package. I made no changes at all to any of the sources. I just unpacked the sources, and ran ./configure make that was all I needed to do for a successful build.
