Just tested 2.8.0 release, Z80 port.
The code size increase problem in RC1 is solved, actually the total code 
size is now 0.1% smaller than 2.7.0 compile result. 203 bytes smaller in the 
total 157k bytes Z80 binaries.
No obvious problems found so far.
