Excellent! I love using Linux for development, but the one area where I always ran into problems was programming devices. I kept a Win2K machine under my desk so I could copy the hex files to it and burn them with crappy proprietary programmers. What a shame!
Only with avrdude <http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/avrdude/> was I able to finally program Atmel AVR devices directly from Linux (with a USB programmer). I tried to get Microchip to give me the interface spec for their little hockey-puck programmer, but they wouldn't. I can't figure out why. It would be great if someone took the time to reverse engineer it and support it. Also the EPIC <http://www.melabs.com/products/epic.htm> is a good little parallel-port programmer. It would be better to support this than a do-it-yourself programmer that few people would build. BTW, you didn't mention the SourceForge URL: <http://sourceforge.net/projects/gbi> Best of luck. I'm not currently working with any micros, so I can't guarantee I'll be able to help or test, but I will if I can. -Ken Jackson Peter L.
