Summary: Reverse video no longer works Group: GNU Screen Submitter: malvineous Submitted: Mon 28 Oct 2024 07:16:25 PM AEDT Category: User Interface Severity: 3 - Normal Priority: 5 - Normal Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: None Fixed Release: None Planned Release: None Work Required: None _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon 28 Oct 2024 07:16:25 PM AEDT By: Adam Nielsen <malvineous> Reverse video no longer works, instead rendering text normally, making it no longer stand out. Steps to reproduce: 1. In a normal terminal, run "man ls" and observe the last line on the screen is reverse video (black text on a grey background). 2. Run screen, then "man ls" again, and observe the last line is now rendered normally, e.g. grey text on a black background. In case it depends on the terminal, I am using rxvt-unicode. This used to work in the previous version of screen, it only seems to have broken since upgrading to v5.0.0. The fact that the reverse video characters render correctly when screen is not in use is what suggests to me that screen is at fault. Although I am not an expert on how this all works, I suspect the issue could be in the termcap perhaps, as running "TERM=rxvt-unicode man ls" within screen (or TERM=xterm) does show reverse video text correctly. It is only when $TERM is set to "screen" or "screen-bce" that the formatting is ignored. If I run "TERM=screen man ls" without screen running then I see the same problem. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?66385> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
