Summary: Background Backtick program does not exit when screen exits Project: GNU Screen Submitted by: vnewell Submitted on: Mon 01 Aug 2016 03:12:41 PM GMT Category: Program Logic Severity: 3 - Normal Priority: 5 - Normal Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: Cur Dev Sources Fixed Release: None Planned Release: None Work Required: None _______________________________________________________ Details: I developing on a software operation state indicator in my .screenrc as a backtick. The software uses ROS PUB/SUB so I would like to run the backtick program in the background and have the indicator update when the operational state changes. According to the docs: "If both the lifespan and the autorefresh parameters are zero, the backtick program is expected to stay in the background and generate output once in a while. In this case, the command is executed right away and screen stores the last line of output. If a new line gets printed screen will automatically refresh the hardstatus or the captions." I noticed that this background backtick program does not exit when screen exits. Is that working as intended or is that a bug? Let me know if you need me to provide more specific information for reproducing this bug. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?48674> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
