I've just joined screen-devel because, in connection with another of my projects (doclifter) I've discovered that the screen manual page needs a significant reworking.
The problem is not the content but the markup. The screen.1 page is old-school troff visual-level hackery, poorly structured. This is not a problem as long as groff is the only renderer, but it interferes with generating XML-Docbook and high-quality HTML from the page. I already have a patch to turn the main command-keystroke table, presently a rather fragile pile of list syntax, into a real TBL table. This improves its appearance even in nroff rendering and allows a much better HTML translation. There are some other, similar things that should be done further down the page. I don't know the screen project's customs. I could post patches here, or apply for commit privileges on the repo at Savannah. Please let me know how you would like me to proceed. -- <a href="http://www.catb.org/~esr/">Eric S.
