Follow-up Comment #3, bug #34714 (project screen): There is a bug reported in Debian (#707044) regarding screen core dump that is similar to this one. It can be accessed here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=707044 I have boiled it down to the following test: $ cat > ~/.screenrc <<! hardstatus string "%w%d" maxwin 10 ! $ screen -dLR [screen caught signal 11. (core dumped)] $ screen -dLR ### Running screen again gives additional info, but do not crash There is a screen on: 17885.pts-0.debian-systemd (2014-12-02 19:00:20) (Dead ???) Remove dead screens with 'screen -wipe'. $ screen -v Screen version 4.02.01 (GNU) 28-Apr-14 $ uname -a Linux debian-systemd 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-2 (2014-11-06) x86_64 GNU/Linux
It does not occur in an older version of screen, in this case on MacOS 10.10: $ screen -v Screen version 4.00.03 (FAU) 23-Oct-06 $ uname -a Darwin modesty.local 14.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 14.0.0: Fri Sep 19 00:26:44 PDT 2014; root:xnu-2782.1.97~2/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64 Please advice if further assistance is needed.
