Follow-up Comment #2, bug #33587 (project screen):
I have tested this patch on both AIX and Linux and am satisfied that it works
as advertised on both platforms.
However, it is my experience that GNU Make is available and widely used on AIX
machines instead of the vendor's make.
We can either
1) apply this patch to the source tree, trivially providing support for IBM's
idiosyncratic Make syntax without impacting other Makes, or
2) close this as a WONTFIX and document the fact that GNU Screen is intended
to be built using GNU Make
