I have checked in a fix in the unicode++ branch: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/screen.git/commit/?h=unicode%2b%2b&id=50eb9b71de8e814c171ca5dd5a6070765573983d The patch you attached here doesn't seem to fix the problem for me (in 'master'). The fix in the unicode++ wouldn't quite work in 'master', either. Instead, could you please see if the attached patch works for you? Thanks for finding the bug, and the cause for it.
