I guess it just feels a little more humble, more polite maybe, hence less likely to draw negative replies, and if indeed it is met with a resounding NO, whoever asks will not lose face or his authority in the perspective of subsequent dealings as much as if he had formulated it in a more direct way. At least that's the way it works with my own particular brand of English. I can't vouch for the other poster, but I was replying to what I felt was the 'real' question.. which means that I am all in favor. There are issues that I may have forgotten about and I would be extremly happy to know when they have been addressed without having to visit the web site on a regular basis. Besides, unless I misunderstood your original question, that's pretty much the accepted behavior on other -devel mailing lists I subscribe to, so I don't see anybody having any objections (?) CJ
