Actually, recent screens (Ubuntu's version of 4.0.3jw4 at least, and the development sources), provide this information in zombie mode. You might see if you can get a newer version of screen running, so you can get at this info (or see if it resolves your issue, for that matter, though I somewhat doubt it). - -- Micah J.
