I have created a (experimental) Python extension package that provides
an interface to the pcsc-lite library (version 0.4.0). It was created
and tested for the non-RPC version only.

There are two demonstration scripts, one simply prints out the ATR of
a card, the other one reads the phone book from a GSM SIM card.

The package is meant to serve as a basis for easy smartcard
programming. Most of the PC/SC functionality is still untested and
there are many open issues. At least it works with my configuration:
RedHat 6.0 and a Schlumberger Reflex 60 card reader. Please play
around with it and send any suggestions for improvement to me. I would
like to hear about any problems you might encounter.

The package together with a description is available at

Happy new year!
