Hi all!

I hope that this message find you all well. There's been some activity
recently on github[1] that resulted in some interesting conversation, from
which I promised to get the following call for action:

---> Let's release a 1.3.4 liquidsoap bugfix soon!

I'm planning on making myself available to the next 4 weeks to look at and
fix issues that would be brought forward and, of course, do some bug
triaging.

So, if you've been waiting for some time for things to move -- and I know
some of you have, now's the time!

---> Long term plans

However, I have to be honest, in the long run, I find less and less time to
work on the project and I know that David and Sam are in a similar
situation. I do care for the project and for all the good people using it,
though, so, ideally, I would love to find a way to smoothly transition into
a soft retirement that doesn't let everybody hanging.

Thus, I would also like to reiterate that I will always try my best to find
time to mentor any interested contributor and would love to pass the torch
to any prospective developer.

If you're interested in contributing to Liquidsoap, here are some area that
could use some work:

- The website needs a lifting. It's been the same for perhaps a decade now.
Needs new styling, needs to be fitted for mobile, etc.

- The doc, as well, could use some work, revision, typo check,
re-organization etc.

- Liquidsoap on windows is in an unfortunate limbo. On the one hand,
cross-compiling for windows has never been that clean but, ironically, the
latest build seems to suffer from some serious issues. Cross-compiling is a
really fun thing to work on, you won't be disappointed!

- There's been some awesome work done on ocaml-ffmpeg by @gndl. This work
needs to be integrated into liquidsoap's decoders and encoders.

- The github bugs need to be triaged and cleaned up. Any bug that doesn't
apply to at least 1.3.0 should be kindly closed with a nice message asking
to re-open/re-submit if the bug still applies to 1.3.0 or above.

- The Debian packages should be updated. That shouldn't be too much work
here and I know it would make a lot of folks happy.

- The mailing list needs to be moved out of sourceforge.

That's all I can think of right now. If you're interested on working on any
of this, let me know and I'll be very happy to assist.

Hope y'all have a great weekend. Let's get that 1.3.4 release done soon!
Romain
