Sorry, it took me a while to reply since I didn't get a reply to my
submission for a month, and when I tried to come back, the site was
unavalaible for some days.
In the meantime a C implementation of the algorithm with the GMP library is
ready. This is still significantly slower than the public domain
machine-code implementation, but it should make the function available to
more architectures. I'll try to make mayself acquainted with Savannah and
publish the source today.
